Coming to grips

492 words; about a 2 minute read

Mission: Mission 82 - The Aggressor
Location: Starbase 400
Timeline: After the Pegasus returns

Saith left the Pegasus and headed to her quarters on base. The last couple of days had been hard and she did not really want to talk to anyone. Not for the first time, she was glad her quarters were in a quiet, somewhat out-of-the-way section of the Star base. The lights came up as she entered, “Computer, dim lights to 35 percent.” The lights softened as she lie down on her bed.
Her mind wandered to the discussion she had with Captain Pike the other night in the 10-forward lounge of the starship. He was right, she could see that, her anger issues probably stemmed from her childhood. How could she not be angry; parents should help their kids not use them as scapegoats, right? Her anger flared a little as she turned to lie on her side and curl her knees up to her chest.
Saith had been unable to explain exactly what she meant to Captain Pike. She was confused about all the things that she had believed in that turned out to just not be true: growing up she believed the Romulans were a superior race with proper concerns for Empire and citizens; that turned out to be a laugh; The Federation was the evil enemy, also proved untrue, but then later maybe true, and then maybe not true again . . . and now she didn’t know what she thought about the Federation. She knew her entire life, for instance, that she hated Klingons, but then she found she was okay with K’Temoc, and flat out like Maal. And then there was Maal. Maal was another fly in her ointment as well. Comparing Andy to Maal, she should have gone for Andy. They had more in common than she and Maal. She had, since she was small, orchestrated everything to get her ahead. Andy was higher ranked, he came from money, and she did not dislike Andy, he was a good catch, but her desires went to Maal.
Saith got up and moved to her computer. Computer record personal log, the computer whirred to life, and began recording. Once she was finished recording Saith sat in the chair for a few moments thinking, and she then made a decision she had resisted previously. Getting up before she could change her mind she left her quarters.
Saith walked quickly towards the medical section of the base and into the counseling center. She had decided if she made herself walk in there she would have to make the appointments because they would ask why she was there. She knew herself too well, if she waited to make them via computer schedules she would never do it, but face-to-face she would have no choice..
In response to the staff members query Saith replied, “I have been ordered to meet regularly with the counselor. I need to set up my appointments.”

OOC: I am also working on a personal log for Saith :-D
