Alex was tired and just wanted to have a nice quiet evening with her son and a nice meal. When she got home, she was greeted by her son, Paul.
"Well it's about time your home. I was starting to wonder if you'd ever get back." He came over and gave her a hug. "I missed you and was worried about you."
Alex hugged him tighter, "Don't worry about me. I'm never leaving you. I will always be here with you in here." She put her hand where his heart is. "Besides, I ended up on the bridge where the action wasn't. So see, the odds were in my favor."
Paul smiled, "If you say so." He stepped back, "I'm sure that you are tired from your ordeal."
"Actually I am tired. I'm going to take a shower and when I get out, we can sit and talk. You can tell me what you did when I was gone." Alex went to her room and took her shower.
Alex laid down on her bed for a while and fell asleep. After a while, she woke up with a start. She had no idea how long she was asleep. She came out of her room to see Paul sitting on the couch listening to some music. "I am so sorry Paul."
"Mom, mom, it's okay. You needed the sleep. I can entertain myself."
She smiled, "I see that." The chime rang, "Hmm, I wonder who that can be." She opened the door which revealed a man with Chinese food in his hand. She took the food and gave him a smile as well as a thank you. She turned to Paul who was grinning ear to ear.
"I know your weakness for Chinese take out so I thought this to be the perfect time. You are hungry, right?"
"Paul, sometimes you surprise me. This is perfect."
They sat on the couch with their feet on the table eating and talking. "So what did you do to pass the time away?"
Paul took a bite of food, "I spent most of the time with Vincent and Brandon. He's writing a new book and I've been helping him with it. We've gotten pretty far on it. I would have still been there but Brandon got hurt and had to go to Sickbay."
Alex frowned, "Oh no. I hope he's okay and that it isn't anything serious."
"I think it was somewhere on his arm. I'm sure he'll be okay." Paul assured her.
'I'll have to go see Deela tomorrow and see how he's doing. So what else did you do?"
"Well, let's see....."
