Status/Damage report - The Saratoga

Saith stood before Captain Pike and finished her report, "All in all sir, the Saratoga herself is in good shape, with only minor damages. We did however," she took a breathe and paused, "in terms of manpower we took heavy losses. We lost most of Major Hurd's team. I have compiled a list of names for you to go over."

She turned away, but then turned back, "If you need assistance making notifications, I would volunteer." She looked Pike in the eyes, "I thought about what you said, about the POWs. I, I guess I understand what you mean sir, about someone remembering and not knowing." She glanced at the pad in her hand, "These men and womens families will soon be facing anguish, but at least they KNOW."

Lee nodded as he read over the report:"Yes Ensign we did take quite a few losses and currently Major Hurd will be on the medical ship to recover while we head back to Star Base 400. So with that would like you to remain as XO."

Saith nodded, “Yes sir, I would appreciate the opportunity.” Her attention fixed on the forward view screen, its scene was deceptively peaceful.

He looked up at her:"True Ensign now these familes will get to know what happen to their loved ones, espically the ones that made it alive with us."

She sat in the XOs’ chair.“Still, knowing isn’t all it is cracked up to be,” she mused softly, “Knowing what happened to my family on Rihan has not made it any better. As you know I still have . . . issues. Yet, I know nothing of the fate of the Shiarrael and rarely think of her.”

Saith was aware of the fact she rarely thought about her time onboard the Romulan warships and did not know why the RSE Shiarrael came to mind now. It had been her favorite post, and she didn't know if it was destroyed or survived and was out there somewhere in the remnants of the Empire.

Lee nodded:"If you ever need someone to talk to and don't feel comfortable with the Counselor, Ensign my office is always open."

Her voice dropped of as she gazed thoughtfully at the Captain. "I suppose we should send our complete report to the Admiral?"

Lee looked at her and nodded:"Yes we probably should send our report to the Pegasus."

"Yes sir," Saith replied as she sent the report Pike had just approved. She was fairly new to Starbase 400 and this was her only turn on the Saratoga, so many of the people killed were not people she knew. Turning again to the forward screen she thought the silence on the bridge seemed appropriate somehow.
