K`Wor stood at the Tactical Station on the Bridge of the USS Saratoga. The ship had departed SB400 a short while ago, and was now under cloak. The young Acting-Ensign made a few modifications to the console and display to personalize it a little. He then ran a quick diagnostic of the defensive systems, weapons, and targeting scanners. Everything seemed to check out, so turned the station over to another Officer.
The young man left the Bridge and headed for the ship's armory. He knew from the briefing that the ship would be staying within Federation space, but he still wanted to check on the ship's small arms. Phaser Rifles, Type-1 and Type-2 Phasers, energy cells for them all, and even the small number of Photon Rifles that were aboard the ship. He figured they too would be in good condition and ready for use, after all the Saratoga was assigned to Commander Winter, the station's Tactical Operations Officer...but has K`Wor learned from Captain Harrison, it was his job as the ship's Chief Security/Tactical Officer to make sure she was protected.
After the brief inspection, K`Wor returned to the Bridge and his position. After logging back in, he made a quick sweep with the ship's sensors. Seeing no other vessels in range, he settled in for the rest of his duty shift.
K`Temoc stood at the Engineering station behind Blackthorne, looking over scans of the Pakled ship. It's shields were an older Romulan design, it's limited weapons were Klingon, both were offline due key power relays being removed. It looked like these Pakleds had used them to get their engines working, but the relays blew out.
"Almost looks like a legit problem." The Captain said.
"I agree. We can have them up and running in less than a day, as long as we can keep them away from the repair teams." Blackthorne replied.
"That won't be a problem at all." K`Temoc said with a smirk.
The Defiant class ship dropped out of warp near the outer market, with the Pakled vessel in tow. She moved in closer toward Starbase 400, slowing down, and turning toward Dry Dock Two, one of the stand alone dry docks that orbited close to the starbase. As the Yorktown eased in, she pulled the Pakled ship into the dock, then beamed its small crew to the Observation Lounge aboard the dry dock. The lounge over looked the vessel currently undergoing work. Marines and Security were stationed outside the lounge to keep the Pakleds from wondering around the small habitable area of the dry dock. In the lounge they had everything they needed, beds, food, a head.
"Captain, isn't it wrong to just dump off the Pakleds like that?" An Ensign from the aft station asked..
"Every encounter with the Pakleds has lead to injured personal or damaged or destroyed vessels. We have to protect our own, and they have everything they need." K`Temoc replied. "Conn, take us to the station, request permission to dock."
Mike was at the Communications/Docking Control station as the Yorktown requested permission to dock. "Yorktown, hold position and standby" Bremer replied.
As the Yorktown came to a halt near to the station, it's massive doors opened and moments later a Tug slowed came though, towing the now Decommissioned USS Avenger. It was a sad moment anytime a vessel decommissioned, even sadder when that proud ship was to be scrapped.
As K`Temoc saw the Avenger under tow and powered down, he stood, "Attention on deck." The Bridge crew all stood and snapped to attention to honor the Avenger. Any ship could be repaired within Starbase 400's internal bay, but scrapping was only done at one of the external dry docks. After a few moments, K`Temoc said, "At ease, as you were."
The Avenger was towed to Dry Dock Four, where her replacement was under final construction. NCC-74206-A USS Avenger, an Intrepid Class ship was too soon be launched and brought within Starbase 400's internal bay for final fitting out of key systems before her commissioning. The Defiant class Avenger would meet her end in the same dry dock her replacement was being built...
Mike walked across Ops to the Strategic Operations / Intel position and looked at one of the monitors that showed the current locations of the four support ships that had been sent on special missions. The Saratoga was on her way, the Endeavor on her want too, but the Alabama and Luna hadn't departed yet. Mike typed up a quick message to Vice Admiral Stryfe, Captain Mark, and Captain Andrews asking why they hadn't departed and reminded them that the three Romulans Warbirds that requested to defect to the Federation were still waiting under cloak at the border.
OFF: Okay, so where is everyone? Stryfe, Andrews, and Drigget are aboard the Alabama, Mark, Pike, and M`Kota are aboard the Luna. Both ships are supposed to be meeting with 3 Romulan Warbirds that requested to defect to the Federation. Commander Coleman and Lieutenant Commander Smith are on the Endeavor on a cover mission to where Romulus used to be to try and verify Spock's fate. Commander Winter and Acting-Ensign K`Wor are aboard the Saratoga running to the Tholian boarder on an intel mission and to deploy a tachyon detection grid. Everyone else is aboard SB400 now. So, let's post up!
