Mission:
Mission 79 - Triangle
Location: USS Yorktown
Timeline: Following Pike's post
The Defiant class USS Yorktown limped into the Kaleb system. As she passed the inner marker on her approach to Kaleb IV and Starbase 400, she slowed to half impulse...
The Ensign at conn turned to look back at the Captain. “Sir, Starbase 400 is asking if we’ll need any assistance in docking.”
K’Temoc shook his head, “No, we left under our own power, and we’ll return under our own power. Tell the station to keep the tugs home.” He rubbed his hand. Even though he’d taken Harrison’s advise and let Sick Bay treat his cuts, it was still a little sore.
He looked over at Smith, “Send them our repair list. Let them know we’ll be docking in fifteen minutes and we’ll be departing aboard the Steadfast twelve hours from that mark.”
Smith nodded.
K'Temoc continued, “Alex, inform Sick-Bay we’ll be docking in fifteen minutes and be prepared to transfer our wounded over.” K’Temoc added.
Alex looked over at K'Temoc as if her mind was somewhere else, "Um" she recovered, "Yes sir." She glanced over at Pike.
As K'Temoc looked at Harrison’s expression and heard her tone of voice, he could sense something was wrong, even though he wasn’t betazoid. He then glanced over at Pike who was looking back at him, “Okay you two, spit it out.”
Lee just shook his head:"You'll have to ask Captain Harrison about that, she over heard something."
Harrison then added, "I overheard two of our crewmen talking loudly among themselves. They think" she took a breath, "that there might be someone on this ship working with Clark's group." She looked at Pike, "Specifically...Captain Pike and me."
K’Temoc shook his head. “Keep them both off the duty roster for the Steadfast. I don’t want any troublemakers or rumor starts aboard.”
She nodded, "Will do sir." She was still bothered by what they had said. Alex contacted sickbay and relayed K'Temoc's orders.
K’Temoc looked back at the viewer as Starbase 400 seemed to grow larger the closer they got. It seemed to take hours, but it was only a few minutes. As they eased closer, they could see the space doors opening.
Moments later, the Yorktown slowed to one-quarter impulse as the small ship passed though the opening and into Starbase 400’s internal docking bay. Her scorched hull was clearly visible to onlookers watching the ship dock from the station’s observation windows on the upper and lower levels of the Promenade as well as any office or work space with a window facing into the bay.
As she eased closer to her bay, the Ensign spoke up. “Captain, impulse power just went offline.”
K’Temoc shook his head, but he couldn’t hide a smirk, “Perfect timing Lady." He said to the ship herself, "Ensign, maneuvering thrusters. Ease her into her berth.
The Ensign nodded as she tapped the controls. Moments later the ship came to a stop.
“Captain, docking completed. Docking clamps engaged and gravitational supports online. Umbilical supports locking on...now.” The Ensign at conn reported.
K’Temoc leaned back in his chair. “Secure all systems. Crew dismissed...get some rest.”
Lee nodded then got up from his chair and headed off the Yorktown towards his quarters, he wasn't in a good mood.
Alex was pretty much in the same mood as Pike. She stood up from the damaged station. Paul was standing outside of the docking bay and as soon as Alex saw her son, she forgot all about the recent events.
