Wrapping up a Repair

The last seven months were quite straining for the engineering team across all the shifts on the station as they were bouncing between the USS Saratoga at the dry dock, the station's ongoing maintenance and main engineering.

The ongoing repairs of the Saratoga are finally coming to an end, and the strain on the team will be slightly lifted from their shoulders.

“Good morning Dee, good to see you.” Percy greeted Vox “The repairs of the Saratoga are reaching their end, and we managed to keep ourselves to the time that we had planned for”, he said.

"Morning Percy." She yawned. "Sorry, didn't have a great nights sleep. Bear with me. I will be fine. Just might take a little longer to get on all thrusters." Dee commented. "We did well with the repairs. There were some challenging moments though." She added.

"All good, take your time, and you are right. As I recall, the gamma shift was giving their final touch on the repair. Do you know if they completed their thing? Percy said, pulling out his pad to check the maintenance report.

Dee pulls out her padd. " As far as this report says. They have. It does show they did encounter a few problems but these were resolved. " Dee replied with a padd in one hand and her other hand resting to the side and slightly under her pregnant belly.

“That’s very good. The teams have done a good job, I would say. They deserve some time off. Would you not think so, Dee?” He noted, “I think we can give the green for a test flight if there no other complications,” Percy said.

“How are you? I can see that your little one has grown again?” Percy said.

"You're not kidding. I'm only 7 months, and I feel worryingly big. But the doctors say I'm imagining it and that he's the right size for his development. But honestly, it feels like I have a Borg Sphere under my uniform."

Percy chuckled to himself at Dee’s note. “According to the doctors, everything’s fine so far,” he said. “Did the doctors give any indication of when you’ll be taking parental leave to rest?”

“The maiden voyage of the U.S.S. Saratoga after repairs is scheduled to take place in the near future, and a team of engineers is supposed to be on board to monitor the ship’s systems,” he added.

"Well, I plan to work up to 38 weeks. A Trill pregnancy is 42 weeks. I am 30 weeks so I have another 8 weeks left."

“I’m really pleased to hear you’ve already made the necessary plans. Have you chosen a name for the newborn yet? I know there are still eight weeks to go and a bit of time before you have to settle on a name,” said Percy curiously.

"8 weeks to maternity leave and then 4 weeks to my due date. Then we will all get to meet." She gently caressed her belly. "Velo."

„ I like the name, how did you choose it?“ Percy asked

"Velo was the name of my Grandfather who passed away when I was very little. I have hazy memories of him holding me in his arms, dining me songs and comforting me."

“What a lovely idea to name him after your grandfather,” remarked Percy, a smile on his face. “It’s always a pleasure to talk to you, Dee.”

“Let’s get back to work and prepare for the maiden voyage, in consultation with the captain assigned to the ship.”

" Yeah. We work so well together you and I. It's always a pleasure to work with you, Percy. Let's finish this so she can have a great launch. "

“I’m glad to hear that. I enjoy working with you too. I completely agree with you, Dee.”

The two continued to make the final updates for the Saratoga as the screen fades out.
