Mission: Episode 121 - "Where There's A Section, There's A Way"
Location: Holosuit 8
Timeline: Current

As the scene opens, we find ourselves in a subtropical paradise. A light beige stone floor stretches out before us, ending about thirty metres ahead at a series of columns rising to roughly chest height. Beyond them lies an ocean of deep turquoise‑green, the slightest tip of each wave sparkling in the golden sunlight.

Our view pans right toward a pool with a large fountain at its centre. We move closer, then angle toward two sun loungers where Jaxon and Dee are lying on towels. Jaxon sits upright with a book. He is shirtless, showing off his toned upper body, and wears a pair of shorts with a bright swirling pattern of purple, orange, and luminescent green.

Dee, lying almost horizontal, is in a two‑piece bikini patterned in yellow and blue. Her seven‑month‑pregnant bump is bare, glistening in the sunlight from the moisturiser she applied moments earlier. Her eyes remain closed as she dozes on the comfortable lounger.

Still without opening her eyes, she murmurs, “This is definitely one of your best ideas in recent times.”

"Glad you approve. I just feel like we both could use a little downtime." Jaxon said, has he shipped it a little closer, and looking into her dazzling eyes.

She looked up at him. "Absolutely. Work has been tiring recently. I'm not as mobile as I use to be and not quite as agile. My team have been fantastic though. Taking up jobs I can't quite manage with my belly being this big now. "

"I think you look radiant, and you are doing a remarkable job. There maybe a few inconveniences, but the chance to hold our baby will be worth it." Jaxon said, as he continued to look at her, and leaned in for a small kiss.

She kissed him longingly on the lips. " I've been thinking about names. Now we know we are having a boy." She said gently caressing her belly.

" I have three so far. Darin, Bardel and Velo."

"I like the name Velo, how did you come up with those three names?" Jaxon asked, as he gently brushed her hair with his fingers. A couple strands had covered her face, due to the light breeze.

"Oh, well" she paused, placing her hand on the side of her belly as she felt him moving around.

" Darin and Bardel are names of two friends from my childhood, and Velo was the name of my grandfather. Velo Timurs. He died when I was only 2. I have hazy memories of his face. My mother told me that he adored me and was always happy to hold me in his arms, sing me songs and comfort me when I cried. "

"And I think we should go with your grandfather's name. Velo is a good name and has a deep meaning for our family." Jaxon said.

"I'd like that. Remind me when we get back to our quarters; I will show you some pictures of my grandfather. "

"I would like that," Jaxon said with a warm smile on his face. He continued to stroke her soft golden blonde hair. "I definitely want to get to know the man that our child is going to be named after."

" Don't worry, you will," Dee replied. She leaned towards him, kissing him firmly on his lips, whilst running her fingers through his hair. She absolutely adored him. The feeling he gives her just by being with her makes everything feel just so much more enjoyable.

"I know it might sound a little cheesy, but I live for moments like this. No pressures of the station, no pressures of our jobs. Just the two of Us sitting here in a moment of tranquillity while chaos exists all around us. I like the fact that we can come together like this and just spend time together." Jaxon said, as he pulled away for a second to kiss her, and then kissed her again.

"It's not cheesy at all, unlike some of your jokes. I love moments like this, when we spend quality time together. It's like we are in the calm in the eye of the storm that is all around us, but here it's peaceful, tranquil and just us. We should try to make time for more of this. It might get tricky when Velo arrives." She smiled as she kissed him, with more passion. At that moment in their embrace, time seemed to slow, almost to a stop.

"I would say let's run from the storm. But deep down, we both love the chaos that is Starbase 400." Jaxon suggested to her.

"Starbase 400 has its own unique brand of chaos, and that is what brought us together. We are about to bring a new life into that chaos," she replied, rubbing her belly. "I hope he will learn to love it as much as we do."

"I have no doubt he will; we do have one unique opportunity here. We are stationary, and it's easier to have family come here or for us to go to them." Jaxon suggested to Dee.

"Very much so. I got a message from my mother, and she's asking to be present for Velo's arrival. Are you ok with that?"

"I don't, as long as she doesn't try to kick me out of the delivery room." Jaxon suggested to her.

" Ha ha ha ha. If she tries, she's the one getting kicked out and I will do it myself, regardless of whether I'm having a contraction or not."

"You would do that for me?" Jaxon asked, feeling. Very touched by this gesture from her.

" Of course. My mother, as is your mother, are just Velo's grandmothers. You're his father, you outrank grandparents. So yeah. I would. "

"What does Vox think about this arrangement? Me over the family?" Jaxon asked, curious to know the symbiont perspective.

"Well, interesting that you should that question as this issue has come up before. In particular with Lerani, my third host refused to allow her mother in the delivery room and I recall there was an internal conflict as Vox is very family orientated hence why I'm ok with my mother being in the delivery room but that's kind of by invitation where as you, being the father, it's more duty bound, as my soulmate. But, the expectant mother is well within her right to chuck anyone out of the delivery room, except of course, medical professionals."

"Well I'm happy to hear that Vox is family oriented, and will support your decision. This is all hypothetical, because your mom loves me." Jaxon said with a warm smile.

" She adores you. Last time we were at their place on Trill, my mother took me to one side and said 'Dam you've found an absolute cracker of a fiancé.' I told her that I count my blessings every day. "

"I think you're both wrong, I'm ,the lucky one. You choose me over all others. Your having our son." Jaxon said, as he leaned in and kissed her softly.

In the brief gap between kissing, she looked deep into his eyes. " I love you." She then held him as she kissed him passionately, all the while feeling Velo wriggle inside her.

"I love you too." Jaxon said, as he felt the baby kick. A big smile streaked across his face, as he put his hand on her belly. "Active little guy."

" Too much sometimes, especially at night. I'm awake with my belly doing a great impression of a bowl of jello while next to me you are snoring like a drain "

"I wonder if he will be a pilot like his old man or an engineer like his momma." Jaxon asked playfully. Knowing he would grow up in both worlds.

"Whatever his heart desires really. We should encourage him to be the best at what he loves doing. " Dee commented.

"Sure you say that now, maybe he'll be a mama's boy and be an engineer. If we have a daughter, I see her being a pilot. Balancing and symmetry in the universe." Jaxon pointed out to her.

"Whoa, whoa, hold your horses there, cowboy. I am pregnant with our first, and you are already planning a second baby? That being said. I will be happy with whatever Velo chooses to be, so long as he is happy and follows his heart. Hmmm, a daughter would be nice, though," she smiled.

Can you blame me, my love? I'm just excited to start our family. You're going to be a great mother, Dee." Jaxon said with a warm grin on his face.

"No, I can't blame you. I am just as excited as I am nervous. I may have the experience of giving birth from my previous hosts, but I am still somewhat nervous. I know you will be there to hold my hand and be with me. I hope we become great parents."

"I'll be there, promise my love." Jaxon said, as she reached now to hold her hand, it was a symbolic gesture today. But when the day came, he would be there.

"I will hold you to that." She said holding his hand firmly.

Jaxon smiled, as he stared deep into her eyes. The scene fades away, with the two them holding hands and staring into each other's souls.
