Mission:
Mission 78 - Colonial Uprising
Location: K'Temoc's Ready Room
Timeline: Following 'Engaging the Sydneys pt3'
ON:
K’Temoc walked into the small ready room aboard the Defiant class vessel. Several items that normally sat on his desk were down scattered across the deck. He picked up a PADD, looked at it for a moment, then threw it against the rear bulkhead.
Not only was he angry over the damage done to the Yorktown, but he was also angry he was heading back to Starbase 400 and not after Clark, Westmoreland, and Winter. But what was eating away at him more than anything was how he felt suckered in. They had laid out a night little trap…
He sat down at his desk and tapped a few commands on his display. A moment later his brother appeared on the screen.
“I hope you have an open dry dock…” K’Temoc started.
Mike could see the anger and frustration in his younger brother’s eyes. “What happened?”
“We managed to track down three more of the missing Sydneys. They were together, along with the Starlighter.” K’Temoc replied.
“What?!” Mike’s eyes widened when he heard the name of Jon Westmoreland’s private ship. He knew Starfleet Intelligence suspected him of breaking Clark out of prison, but knowing he was involved with the theft of Starfleet property made it all the more serious. Jon Westmoreland was once one of Mike’s most trusted crewmembers, and a friend.
K’Temoc explained to Mike what Jon had told him during their brief convocation, and what Clark had added in.
Mike replied, “Sounds bitter. In some ways, I can’t blame him for feeling how he does, but that doesn’t excuse his actions.” He paused, “And Jon said he didn’t agree with everything Clark said or did? Are you thinking what I’m thinking about Clark?”
K’Temoc nodded, “I am...and it fits with everything we know...and don’t know about him.”
“I’ll see what I can find out. What’s the Yorktown’s status?”
K’Temoc shook his head, “Bad. We’re on our way in now. Luckily casualties were light, fifteen wounded, no one killed. We’d like to go back out though.”
“I’ll have the stand-by crew aboard the Steadfast prep her.” Mike replied. “I’ll also contact the Essex. She’s near the Triangle, I’ll have her keep an eye open for the Starlighter too.”
“Thanks Mike, I’ll transmit my official report within the hour.” K’Temoc replied. “One other thing, Winter was with Westmoreland and Clark aboard the Starlighter.”
Mike sighed and nodded, and then closed the channel. He leaned back in his chair for a moment, thinking about the situation. He wanted to be out there, he needed to be out there.
Something needed to be done. The Pirate groups within the Triangle had been quiet for months, since Clark was taken into custody. Now with him loose, they were more of a menace than before. While Starfleet Command wouldn’t authorize an all out assault on their bases in the Triangle, a clear message needed to be sent...
