As Mike turned to leave the Bridge of the USS Princeton, a Lieutenant jg in a gold trimmed uniform finished climbing up though the turbolift shaft. As he stepped on the Bridge, Mike approached him.

He didn't recognize the officer in the low light. The Admiral made a mental note to make sure extra lighting was brought aboard until the ship's internal power grid was back online fully...

"May I help you Lieutenant?" Bremer asked.

Jackson was cursing quietly to himself as he finely reached the bridge level. 'They don't even have the turbolifts working on this shipwreck yet?!' he thought to himself as he tossed his engineering kit onto a nearby chair. The sudden voice startled the heck out of him in the low lighting, he turned and immediately caught the rank on the collar of the person who'd addressed him.

Jackson damned near threw his back out as he snapped to attention, "Sir, Lt. Jackson Graham reporting for duty Sir!"

Bremer couldn't help but to smirk as Graham snapped to attention...it reminded him of himself once...

"At ease Lieutenant. I'm Admiral Bremer, welcome aboard Starbase 400 and the USS Princeton." Mike had been expecting a new Assistant Chief Engineering Officer for some time, he was happy Starfleet had finally sent him...

Jackson snapped his hands smartly behind his back, "Thank you Admiral," his straightforward attitude had, at times, gotten him into hot water in the past, but it generally got him the answers he wanted without having to beat around the bush; admittedly, he'd never tried it with an Admiral before, but he decided to chance it, "Permission to speak freely Admiral?"

Bremer looked Jackson in the eye, studying the man for a moment, "Granted."

"Sir... I've served on nothing but starships my entire career, the only time I've ever spent any time aboard a starbase was shore leave. I've just been transferred off of one the finest ships in the fleet for this assignment... so if you don't mind me asking Admiral... what the heck am I doing here?" Jackson's eyes never left the Admiral's as he posed his question.

Mike paused a moment before replying. "Look around, we need all the good engineers we can get!" He flashed a smirk.

"In all seriousness, with our current relations with the Romulans and the Pirate Cartels within the Triangle getting bold again, we need all of the good officers we can get. Not only to help us keep the starbase and small fleet of ships stationed at Starbase 400 operating at peak efficiency, but your previous CO praised your ability to look outside the box to find a solution to a problem. To the point, we need you."

Jackson weighed the admiral's words carefully for a moment, and then nodded, "Admiral, you'll get nothing but my best at all times sir. Where do you need me?"

Mike nodded, "Very good, welcome aboard Starbase 400." Bremer shook Graham's hand, then he then motioned toward Lieutenant Gillo who was working under the conn station." This is our Chief Operations Officer, Lieutenant Holly Gillo. I'm sure she could use a hand. The Princeton is an old girl, but she's not ready to retire yet."

Mike was fond of the old Constitution class refit vessels, and his tone gave that away, "She's sat in mothballs for the last seventy years before being towed here last week. Our job is to fully modernize her internal systems, replace or repair any issues with her hull and superstructure, and get her space-worthy again. She'll be assigned SB400 as a patrol and training vessel."

Mike stepped toward the turboshaft and started to climb back down, "Holly can show you around and let you know what she needs assistance with."
