THE OTHER SIDE

There is a dark side of a mirror and the glass is very sharp as Lt Commander Croesus was discovering as he searched for Fizel the Denobulan physicist.

The harder part was hiding from the Imperial patrols on foot of Starbase 400.

This 400 only looked like home and was very dank and dark.

THE BRIGHT SIDE

Korel was called when neither Kah’lyn nor Croesus arrived to get the baby. As closest relative Korel had been called to watch the child.

The door opened and Kah’lyn entered, only this Kah’lyn wasn’t the one that Korel had been expecting. This Kah’lyn was simply tasked with collecting the baby, to try and avoid attention being drawn to the disappearance of Croesus and his wife. “Sorry I’m late, Croesus wanted to show me something.”

" Not a problem. Being his Uncle makes me yours too. Let me know if you need me to watch it again." Korel replied.

“We will” Kah’lyn nodded making a beeline to pick up the baby and get the hell out of the room. She and Croesus had never had any children, their lives were so much more complicated than in this universe. The sooner she delivered the baby to its real mother the better.

Korel didn't trust his niece in law and quickly ran after her. Something just didn't feel right.

“Is there something wrong Korel?” Kah’lyn looked at him as she cradled the real Kah’lyn’s child.

" It's binkey. You forgot it." Korel said as he handed her the pacifier unaware of his next plan.

“Of course, binkey how could I forget that?” Kah’lyn smiled trying to maintain an air of ease even though she didn’t feel at ease.

" Is my nephew in trouble? I have a feeling he is." Korel replied.

‘If only he knew’ thought Kah’lyn as she offered a polite smile. “Croesus is fine Korel, he’s being kept busy with a err...issue he needs to fix. Anyway, thank you again I’ll get out of your hair.”

Korel paused and allowed Kah’lyn to proceed on. He still had that feeling but that would soon pass as he saw three females heading toward his booth.

DARK SIDE

Fivel paced in front of the giant chair where the Predict had ordered him to be.

" Where is my transporter subbeast." yelled the Predict.

" I am afraid you have the wrong person. I am a mere blood wine merchant. " Fivel lied.

" I grow tired of your lies. Take him to the interrogation room." Predict yelled.

Behind a large drape to the right of the big chair Predict sat in Croesus prepared his move. He had the veridical patch and once placed on Fivel the transporter on the other side would have their coordinates.

THE BRIGHT SIDE

Kah’lyn looked up from where she was sitting, seeing an exact duplicate of her enter holding her own child.

“Here...” The other universe’s Kah'lyn was only too happy to hand over Verelan to her mother. “Am I done now?” She looked at Glom hoping she could stay out of the way from now on.

" Your husband is in the transporter bio chamber. Do you want to go there?" Glom replied.

“Yes, of course” Kah’lyn nodded. “My place is at my husband’s side.”

“Wait...” Kah’lyn looked towards her counterpart. “As much as you need your Croesus, I need mine back! Please...help him!”

Glom paused. " Perhaps you should not. We already have a full chamber. When this experiment began we made a few mistakes. Fortunately Croesus helped us expand the buffers holds."

Kah’lyn cradled her daughter grateful that she was safe with her. “So when my Croesus returns are you planning on letting us go?”

" Of course my friend I never meant to hold you in the first place. Croesus just has to retrieve our colleague and we will let you two...three go. This was not supposed to unfold like this." Glom replied.

Kah’lyn nodded relieved to hear that. “Very well, this plan of yours when do you plan on Croesus returning with your colleague? I take it you do have a laid out plan?” She looked at Glom trying to get whatever information she could.

DARK SIDE

Croesus waited as long as he could but then had to act as Fizel's life hanged in the balance.

" Croesus why are you here? I didn't summon you." Predict yelled.

" I came to kill this one. "

" Yes let Croesus kill him here and now. " Predict smiled.

Fizel unaware awaited his death, felt Croesus large hand on his shoulder. Croesus then reached for his weapon and pretended to stab Fizel in the back. " Go down now if you want to live," Croesus whispered.

Fizel complied and Croesus stood over the body.

" Well done Executioner Croesus. Time for a reward."

" I have mine already."

" What reward?"

" This guy....energize." Croesus yelled.
