Mission:
Episode 117 - "Returning to the Mirror"
Location: Starbase 400
Timeline: MD2 -1010hrs
ON:
Mike was on Level 350 outside of Starship Design and Construction. The Tactical Team had joined him a few minutes before. They swept the level's offices and found someone had accessed the starship design database and downloaded all specs and plans for several startship classes including the Inquiry, Interceptor, Reliant, Ross, Constitution III, and Odyssey classes.
Mike stood in the corridor, thinking what else would Mirror Universe agents be looking for. He thought about Level 41, which included the Marine Armory and Heavy Weapons Storage. He knew there were Marines already in the area, but if someone they thought they knew requested access...
"Lieutenant, keep looking here. I'm checking out a lead." Mike said to one of the Security Officers. He then turned and entered a turbolift.
"Bremer to K'Temoc."
"Go ahead." K'Temoc replied.
"Where are you?" Mike asked.
K'Temoc replied, "Ops."
Mike checked his tricorder and confirmed it. "Anything on internal sensors? Anyway to track them?"
"We've been trying. They have a temporal variance at the cellular level, but that's not something internal sensors would detect." K'Temoc replied.
"Keep looking for a way. Don't let anyone up there without confirming their identity." Mike replied.
"Understood, K'Temoc out."
In Ops, K'Temoc looked back at Archer. "Can you set up some kind of parameter scan, so if someone steps off the transporter pad or from the turbolift it'll scan them?"
Archer nodded, "Yeah...yeah I think I can."
Mike arrived on Level 41 and started to scan. He was concerned he didn't see any Marines patrolling. He started down the corridor toward the Heavy Weapons Storage area, which included a database with specs and plans for each. Slowly, Mike entered the storage area and looked around. It was obvious someone had recently accessed one of the terminals and downloaded data.
Mike turned to leave when he saw one of the new Security Officers assigned to Starbase 400, Ensign D'Ver, a Klingon.
"Ensign, what are you doing in Marine Country?" Mike asked.
D'Ver eyed Bremer for a moment.
"Ensign?" Mike asked.
D'Ver grunted and went to draw his phaser but Mike's draw was a little faster. He hit D'Ver in the left shoulder and he dropped the weapon. Mike rushed in as D'Ver drew a mek'leth. Mike smirked, holstered his phaser, and drew his own mek'leth.
The sound of metal clanging echoed in the storage room. The two thrust and parried, for several moments before Mike got the upper hand and disarmed D'Ver.
"You're from the Mirror Universe, but why are you helping the Terrains? " Mike asked.
"None of your business." D'Ver replied.
"Who sent you?" Mike asked.
Before he could answer a phaser blast streaked by him. As he took cover another bolt hit D'Ver and vaporized him.
Back in Ops, Archer was tapping on his panel. K'Temoc walked over to him and check on his progress.
"Someone is in the lift on their way up." K'Temoc said.
"It's ready...now. " Archer said.
A moment later Mike stepped slowly from the lift and looked around.
"You alright?" K'Temoc asked.
"Yeah. I didn't find anything." Mike replied.
K'Temoc looked over at Archer who gave a nod.
"Have you found anything?" Mike asked.
K'Temoc walked over to Tactical II, "We have several patrols out, securing vital areas and looking for Pike's duplicate and yours. The scan in Ops is also working."
Mike nodded, as he looked around. "Okay, good."
Only a few people were in Ops, with so many changes recently made by Starfleet Command, Starbase 400 was operating at a near skeleton crew.
"Good." Mike replied, then suddenly drew a phaser and started to fire. He hit Archer in his shoulder and spun him down to the deck. He then fired again and vaporized the Lieutenant at Tactical I. K'Temoc took cover and attempted to return fire but phaser blasts hit around him, destroying Tactical II.
The turbolift doors opened and Bremer, the real Bremer stepped off the lift and into Ops. He was met by a phaser blast close to his head. He ducked and fired back, missing but K'Temoc fired again and hit the phaser in the Mirror Universe Bremer's hand.
"He's mine!" Mike said as he rushed forward. It was personal for him.
K'Temoc slumped down as blood dripped down his face from the exploding consols.
Mike expected his Mirror Universe duplicate to be weak and out of fighting practice, but was shocked at his skill and strength. Punches and kicks were thrown and blocked. Each getting in their share of hit though and soon both were bleeding. Mike used a roundhouse kick on his duplicate and he stumbled. As Mike went in again, the duplicate regained his balance, counted the move, and used Mike's momentum against him and slammed his head into the holo-display in the middle of Ops. Mike stumbled. He tried to counted, but his duplicate was full of hate and raged and slammed Mike's head into the display again, before slinging him to the deck. Mirror Universe Bremer then jumped on Mike's back, pressed his arm against Mike's neck, and pressed his face to the deck.
"This is your punishment...this is what you get for imprisoning me! I beat you, and I know you can't stand being beaten!" Mirror Universe Bremer then punched Mike in the ribs again and again, then in the back of the neck. He drew back to hit Mike again, but flinched when a phaser blast passed by him.
Mirror Universe Bremer stood and fired back as he grabbed what looked like an old style communicator from his pocket and tapped a button. He was soon enveloped golden energy like a transporter beam and he shimmered away...leaving Ops wrecked, Bremer in a pool of his own blood, Archer wounded, and K'Temoc wounded and bleeding.
