A Klingon Cometh

Mission: Episode 116 - "A Bounty of Trust"
Location: Starbase 400
Timeline: MD1, 0930hrs

Mike stepped out of his office and walked into Ops. He was still getting used to the color tone change of all the LCARS panels from blues to grays.

He glanced at a message on the Communication's panel which said after a year of deployment, the USS Tikhov was being visited by the Starship Archer to provide supplies for the crew.

Petty Officer de Luca stopped beside the Fleet Admiral and handed him three PADDs. Even with a holo-PADD integrated into the new commbadge the year before, the good old hand-held version was still in use. Mike changed his Yeoman, then took a sip of his raktijno, then started reading the first.

Starfleet Command wanted Starbase 400 to send a small task force of ships to the Delta Quadrant to continue exploration and patrol around New Talax. The second PADD was signed off by Fleet Admiral Clancy and ordered Starbase 400 to decommission all 'reserve' ships. Mike reread the order, and as vague as it was, it made the order even less...realistic or necessary. 'Future Starship control system updates', what were those and why wasn't he aware of anything as such? Mike typed up a quick reply to Fleet Admiral Clancy, objecting to the order, and sent it the message off.

The third PADD was a message from Station Security. It mentioned that a Klingon bounty hunter, Chu'rex had arrived on the station that morning and said he was looking for a 'target'. Mike set a message back to security to have them escort Chu'rex to Mike's office.

Mike took another sip of his raktijno then walked back into his office and took a seat at his desk. With Chu'rex here and obviously something going on with Starfleet Command, Mike realized he wasn't doing to the Delta Quadrant this time. He typed up a message to Admiral T'Lar to advice her that she would be leading the task force to the Delta Quadrant with the force to include the Essex, Luna, Ark Royal, Visionary, Europa, and Cushing. With Solomon back, his experience would be a welcome asset, so Mike included Pike, Solomon, Coleman, McWire, and Grian on the message so they could get their ships ready for the trip.

A moment later, K'Wor walked in with Chu'rex. The Klingon bounty hunter was a large man, even for a Klingon. He carried a disruptor, two d'k taghs, a bat'leth, and old style shackles. "I am Chu'rex."

Mike stood, "I'm Fleet Admiral Mike K'Wor Bremer, Commanding Officer of Starbase 400. I've been told you're here looking for someone."

K'Wor stepped to the side and remained near the door as Chu'rex stepped forward.

"I am." He placed a small holo-emitter on Mike's desk and activated it. The face of an Andorian appeared and slowly rotated. Beside the man's face, in Klingon, was text that said the Andorian was wanted for rape, murder, theft, destruction of private property, and other crimes and his name was Ryne.

"What makes you think he's here?" Mike asked.

"I've tracked him for three Earth months. He has a business associate on this station and I believe they are planning to meet." Chu'rex replied.

"Who?" Mike asked.

"Tom Vercetti." Chu'rex replied.

Mike leaned back in his chair for a moment as he looked over the hologram again.
