577 words; about a 3 minute read

Mission: Episode 113 - No One Left Behind
Location: T'Lar's Office
Timeline: MD1 - 1440hrs

Deela sat in her office, waiting for word on the situation with Jack. She waited a good five minutes when she her console beeped. She was surprised to get a communication with the liaison to the president.

"Admiral T'lar. You have caused quite a stir. The president heard that you want to go to the mirror universe with a team to retrieve your husband. He would have contacted you himself but he is a busy man. He has tasked me to tell you that your request is denied."

Deela thought to herself "why would her request make such a stir that the president would send his liaison to contact her?" She outranked this liaison too.

Deela was angry and had to collect her thoughts before speaking. She inhaled and then exhaled, "I don't see how my request is a problem. It's simple. I'm not planning to start a war or anything. I simply want to go, retrieve my husband and get the hell out of there."

Savok looked at her expressionless, "Your father is Vulcan, am I correct?"

Deela nodded, "Yes. But what does that have to do with anything?"

"It does not. From what I know about you, you are not what I expected is all. You have been trained in the Vulcan way and yet you sit there before me, emotional and illogical."

Deela raised her voice, "Illogical? My husband goes missing, I have evidence that he's been captured by his counterpart and I shouldn't be emotional?" She felt like she was talking to her father.

"Being that you are not full blooded Vulcan, I can see why you are the way you are."

"And how's that?"

"Your emotional to the extreme. I can tell that you haven't been meditating or sleeping and all that training now is useless. I do not see one trace of Vulcan in you. And yet, I have been told that you are more Vulcan than Betazoid."

Deela knew it was no use talking to him and trying to convince him that losing a husband is very wearing on a person, "I am Vulcan but I am also part Betazoid and human. And right now, I cannot be logical especially when there is no logic in his abduction."

Savok just gave her a blank look, "I apologize if my assumption was incorrect. But the answer remains the same, your request has been denied. There is to be no further investigation on your part. The president said that he will take it from here."

"But" was the only word she got in.

"Goodbye Admiral."

Deela sat there, feeling like there was something else going on. But she couldn't be sure. Orders were orders and she knew that if the president got involved, it must be bigger than she thought.

Emotions began to stir once more. She picked up the nearest thing and threw it against the wall, the glass statue shattering into many pieces.

Next thing she knew, her Yeoman came running in. She stood there looking at the mess, "Admiral T'Lar, are you okay?"

Deela stood up, "Clean this up for me. I have a briefing to get to." She walked out, leaving her Yeoman scratching her head. She hadn't seen her mad before, well, not like this.

Deela walked out of her office and made her way to Tactical Operations. She was already late but she had to compose herself once more before she could walk into the meeting.
