ON:

Following his confrontation with the Andorian Captain, the Admiral returned to Ops. As he did he was met by Lieutenant Archer and Captain Greenwood. Greenwood let the Lieutenant speak first.

“Sir, Starfleet Command notified us they are sending a vessel for modernization, the USS Princeton.” Archer reported as he handed Bremer a PADD.

Mike glanced at the PADD, “The Princeton, Constitution class. She’s been in mothballs at Avalon Fleet Yards for seventy-five years.” He shook his head. “It’s going to take a lot of work to bring her up to modern specs. I’ll ask Captain Weatherlight and his R&D staff to help the yard engineering teams until Mr. Smith is back.”

“Why didn’t Avalon just do the work?” Archer asked.

“They are already over booked on refits and overhauls, so apparently we’re taking their overflow.” Mike replied.

Archer nodded and returned to the Ops station as Greenwood stepped up…

"Sir may I speak with you."

Mike nodded, “Sure. In my office.”

Greenwood and the Admiral entered the Admiral's office.

"Admiral, it seems that the recent events in this area have made Starfleet Command unsure about previous decisions they made. One of those is the reassignment of the USS Avenger."

Ryan paused a moment.

"Starfleet has rescinded the reassignment of the USS Avenger and has left her stationed here on Starbase 400. That is if you have room."

Mike nodded and flashed a smile, “There is always room at Starbase 400.” He paused as he picked up a PADD from his desk, “Would you also be willing to continue your duties as my Chief of Staff?”

"I would be honored, Admiral."

“Very well then. I’ll let you and your crew get settled back in aboard the station. I need to speak with Captain Weatherlight about helping out with the USS Princeton’s modification, and Commander Winter on when he plans to depart with the USS Laffey on patrol of the Triangle.” Mike replied. It was becoming quiet a busy day on Starbase 400…
