Episode 112 - A Trip to Remember
Location: Tyrus VII
Timeline: Current
DaSlivor sat his Danube Class Runabout along with 8 others, two of which served on T'Lar's ship back in the day.
"So, where are we going?" Jarvis asked as he was getting ready to plot a course.
"Jack was last seen on Tyrus VII so that is where we're going. But first, we need to stop by Starbase 400 and pick up two people."
"Okay. Tyrus it is." He punched in the co-ordinance and they went on their way.
"Admiral T'Lar wanted to come but she can't, so I volunteered to do this for her. Her husband, Commander Jack Solomon hasn't been heard of for about 4 days now. Once we arrive, we are to meet up with a Lt. Jackson. He was the last one to see him before he disappeared."
"Got it." Jarvis turned his attention back to piloting the runabout. They made it to Starbase 400 and picked up Sykes and Ventar "Welcome aboard."
Kisha nodded, "Thank you for having us." Janelle just smiled nervously.
DaSilvor observed her for a moment, "How long has it been? I haven't seen you since Deela got assigned to Starbase 400."
"It certainly has been a long time." Kisha answered.
He asked, "Are you still married to that Maab guy?"
Kisha shook her head, "No. It didn't work out. But I don't want to talk about him." She changed the subject, "This is Lt Sykes."
"Hello." He turned his attention to Jarvis, "Let get going." Kisha and Janelle took their places.
Everyone was quiet as they went on their way.
Tyrus VII
DaSilvor, Ventar and Sykes got of the runabout and looked around at their surrounding as they plotted their next move. They found the camp where Jack had been helping out. When the one who was running things heard that they were inquiring about Jack, he came out very quickly to greet them.
DaSilvor shook the man's hand. Kisha thought that this was being run by a civilian so she was surprised to see that it was a Starfleet Officer, a Lieutenant to be exact.
"Hello. I'm Lieutenant Carmichael. I understand that you are asking about Commander Solomon. I've been expecting someone from Starfleet to start asking questions. I'd love to help but there isn't anything to report to you."
DaSilvor frowned at the answer, "Well, when was the last time you saw him?"
The man looked towards the sky, thinking, then looked back at DaSilvor, "He and three civilian doctors had gone to help out those in need. Two of them came back without Solomon. We sent out a shuttle to search for him. In fact, we used everything that we could to track them down. No trace. When we questioned the men that was with them, they said that he separated from them. He was with them for about an hour but then Solomon told them that he was going to stay behind to further lend his expertise. So they came back without him." He seemed sincere.
Kisha chimed in, "May we talk with them ourselves?"
Carmichael nodded, "I figured you would want to. They are having lunch right now." He pointed to where they were. When they approached them, they seemed a little nervous. They pretty much told them the same thing that they told Carmichael. Janelle wished that she was a human lie detector. She was suspicious of them but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. But she felt that they knew more than what they were letting on.
DaSilvor and the other two left them and went off to a corner to discuss the situation. Janelle was the first to say what they others were thinking, "There is something off about them. They seemed unnecessarily...nervous."
Kisha and DaSilvor nodded in agreement, "I think we should go to where he was last seen. Let's follow Jack's footsteps and maybe check it out." And that's what they did.
Finding the last place Jack was at, they started asking questions. They got the same answers from everyone they talked to. A lot of them seemed nervous. Some got aggravated when they questioned them. Others just said "no, I don't know what happened to him."
There was an area where kids were playing and unsupervised. They walked around, looking to talk to people. They cam upon a lady with her daughter. Janelle stayed in the background while they inquired about seeing Jack when he went missing. The woman, like everyone else seemed not only agitated but looked nervous. As they talked to her, she kept looking back at her husband in the distance.
Kisha asked her, "We were told that he stayed here while the others left. Are you sure that you didn't see where Jack Solomon went after he left here?"
"No, I wasn't paying attention. He fixed the shuttle and..." Her little girl tried to break into the conversation, "Mommy, I..." She angrily scolded her for interrupting, "Shhh. What have I told you about interrupting. Go play with the other kids."
Her little girl butted heads with her mother, "But..." Her mother yelled at her again, Go!" She left. Janelle looked at the two and with her eyes, motioned that she was going to follow the little girl. So Kisha and Andrew nonchalantly changed where they were standing so that the mother couldn't see her kids unless she looked back. Janelle left.
Janelle went over to the kids playing and sat on a bench. The little girl that got in trouble was sitting on the bench as well, sulking. Janelle looked over at the little girl, "My mother used to yell at me too." The little girl didn't say anything but continued to sulk.
Janelle tried again, "I'm Janelle. Do you have a name?"
The little girl eyed her, debating if she should talk to this stranger or not. She decided that it was okay, "Bania."
"That's a pretty name. You know, it won't be like this forever. I'm sure your mother loves you." Janelle wasn't sure if she was earning her trust.
Bania shrugged, "I know. She never listens to me. She thinks I don't know anything but I do. I know what happened to that man you asked my mommy about."
Janelle held in her excitement, "Oh? You do?"
Bania nodded, "Uh huh. He was really nice to me. I fell down and scraped my knee and he helped me. He carried me to my mother and helped her bandage my knee."
"Yes, Jack is very nice. He has a girl a little older than you. They miss him." Janelle sat patiently, not pressing to much.
"I wish my daddy was nice like him. He used to be but not anymore." She frowned.
Janelle felt sorry for this little girl, "I'm sorry." She continued to gain her trust, "Dads can be like that sometimes." She paused for a moment, "So you said that you know where Jack went."
"Uh huh." Bania nodded, "He left with his mean brother. I don't think they liked each other either. They were yelling at each other. He pushed Jack down. You know? That wasn't very nice."
Janelle was confused, "Jack's brother? Are you sure?" He was not in Starfleet so she was confused why he'd be there. Jack would have mentioned it that he'd be tagging along.
"Uh huh. They look like each other too."
"Look like each other? You mean, like twins?" She was stumped.
"Uh huh." Bania got approached by some kids, "Bania, come play with us. We need another player."
Janelle looked at Bania, "You should go with your friends." She had enough information to form an opinion but she'd get the other's thoughts. She watched her leave. Janelle left and joined the others.
Bania's father came out and started yelling at Kisha and Andrew, "Leave my wife alone! I want you to leave, now!" He stepped closer to them as if he was going to hit them.
Andrew and Kisha looked at each other, "Calm down. We were just leaving."
Bania's mother didn't try to calm him. In fact, she flinched when he came out and moved away from him. Something was off. She looked scared of him.
Kisha, who is known to be combative, was about to yell back but Janelle stopped them, "It isn't worth it. I'm sorry sir. We're leaving." They were confused but did as Janelle said.
Kisha just had to know, "What the heck?"
"Not here. But I have an idea." They walked far enough, then Janelle asked, "One question, does any of you know if Jack has a twin brother?"
Kisha shook her head, "No. He has a younger brother and he doesn't look anything like Jack. Why?"
"Bania says that she saw someone that looked exactly like Jack." Janelle thought again, "She said something else. She said that her father used to be nice but lately he's been mean."
Andrew chimed in, "I think we need to talk to Deela as soon as we get back to the shuttle. See what she thinks."
They were all in agreement. They were sure that Deela would come to the same conclusion.
