Mission: Episode 110 - An Endeavor in Discovery
Location: USS Pegasus-C
Timeline: MD1-0730hrs

ON:

The doors to the Bridge of the USS Pegasus-C opened and Admiral Bremer and his son, Ensign K'Wor stepped out of turbolift.

"Wow." K'Wor said as he looked around. "Much better than that massive, open space the shim came with."

Mike nodded as he also looked around. "I like it."

"She's quite the successor to the Pegasus-B." K'Wor added.

A young man at Tactical looked up from his station at the Admiral but didn't say a word before going back to his work, not giving the new comers a second thought.

K'Wor looked over the Ops and Engineering stations on the starboard wall, then walked forward to the Flight Control position.

Mike walked around the other way, looking over the aft positions currently set up for Mission Operation, Marine Operations, Auxiliary Craft Flight Operations, and Strategic Operations. He then walked forward along the port side past the Intelligence, Communications, and Science stations.

Mike then stopped and looked back at the other other person on the Bridge, the Ensign at the Tactical station behind the Captain's chair.

"I thought the transition crew and yard teams were already departing the ship."

The Ensign looked up for a moment. "They are. They have a day off before starting work on the USS Tyr and USS Laffey tomorrow."

"And you?" Mike asked.

"I'm finishing work on the targeting sensors before reporting to Lieutenant Xalanth for duty assignment. I've been assigned permanently to Starbase 400."

"Welcome aboard." K'Wor replied.

"It wasn't my choice."

Mike looked back, "What's your name Ensign?"

"Luke Conway."

Mike thought for a moment, "Conway. You wouldn't happen to be related to Alyssa Conway would you?"

"She was my mother." Conway replied.

"Was?" Mike asked.

"She was killed little over two years ago, then this war you started began." Conway replied.

"Hey, you're out of line!" K'Wor fired back as he stepped toward the other Ensign.

Mike held up his hand. "I'm sorry for your loss, she was a good Captain and a kind woman." He paused a moment as he also stepped closer to Tactical. "We all lost loved ones during the war, but now is when we honor them, memorialize them by building a better future. Their deaths can't be in vain."

Conway tapped in a few commands then logged out of the station. "Perhaps, but I don't trust your kind. Admirals are all the same, power hungry individuals unwilling to get their hands dirty with the common folk." He tilted his head to the side and flashed a smirk. "You know, my father was an Admiral. He talked my mother into a one night stand, had his way with her, and left. Never knew he impregnated her and had no idea I was born. He never talked to her again, just flew off to his next conquest."

Conway looked back at K'Wor, "So if this is where you tell me your daddy is any different, don't bother, it's just words."

With that, Conway turned and left the Bridge.

Mike took a deep breath while K'Wor stared at the turbolift doors for a moment. "What an ass."

"He's hurt and doesn't know how to handle it." Mike replied.

K'Wor nodded.

Mike walked to the front of the bridge, looked back, then walked to the Captain's chair and slowly took a seat. "Let's see aboard getting a crew aboard and taking her for a little spin around the sector."

Mike looked up at his son and smiled.
