Mission: Episode 108 – Tragedies, Fortunes, and an Endgame
Location: Dreggs/USS Cutlass
Timeline: MD3 - 2100hrs

ON:

Saunders, Roebuck, and Carter slowed walked into La’tal's office.

"What happened?" La’tal asked, it was clear she was angry.

"A Starship detected us and fired on us." Saunders replied.

"So you lead them back here? I didn't think you were this sloppy." La’tal replied.

Saunders replied, "We didn't have much of a choice. The Cutlass is from Starbase 400."

La’tal rolled her eyes. "What about the cargo?"

"They have it." Roebuck replied.

La’tal eyed him for a moment, "Haven't I seen you somewhere before?"

"You met me in the Snake Pit after talking to Saunders earlier." Roebuck replied.

La’tal continued to study Roebuck. "You were talking with Kanan about a job."

"That's right." Roebuck replied.

La’tal nodded, "And where is Kanan?"

"I don't know." Roebuck said.

"This is a double cross!" She tapped a button on a wrist device and her door opened. The Nausican and Klingon both entered. La’tal then tapped another button and beamed out.

Carter pulled his phaser and fired on the Nausican while Saunders tried to draw his weapon. The Klingon grabbed his arm and stabbed him in the side with his d'k tagh.

"Damnit, she beamed out! Kanan, do you have a location on La'tal?" Roebuck said as he shot the Klingon attacking Saunders.

"No, but I'm sure she'll be making a run for her ship." Kanan replied.

Saunders dropped to the flood holding his side. "She has a Kaplan F14 Freighter in the main bay. She was trying to by a guy's Unregistered Kaplan F17 Speed Freighter but he refused a few hours ago."

"I'm on it." Kanan said. As he started out the door he saw a man out the corner of his eye that he recognized but couldn't place from where. As he turned to get a better look the man was gone. Kanan shook his head then ran out.

Carter finished off the Nausican he was fighting. "I'll go help Kanan.

Roebuck checked Saunders. "Let me get you to the shuttle, there's a med kit, we can stabilize you until we get you to the Cutlass.

Saunders flashed a small, "There's no time, go help Carter and Kanan. I'll manage." Saunders tried to stand, but slumped over in pool of his blood.

Roebuck stood, looked at Saunders for a moment, then rushed out.

In the bay, La’tal managed to get aboard her ship and started to lift off. Kanan took a few shots at the ship but he sped away. Carter then Roebuck ran up a moment later.

"Roebuck to Cutlass, there's an older Kaplan F14 Freighter heading your way. Impound the ship and take the crew into custody."

"Yes sir." Clayton replied.

"Saunders is dead." Roebuck said. "I'm going to get his body, beam it to the shuttle and take him to Earth for burial."

Carter nodded. "I'll get the shuttle prepped."

"I'll go with you." Kanan replied.

A moment later, Clayton's voice came over the comm. "Cutlass to Roebuck, we have the pilot and one crew member in custody but the freighter was destroyed."

"Understood." Roebuck said as he walked into La'tal's office.

He looked around, but Saunders was no longer there. The pool of blood was there, but no body and no clear sign of where it had gone. "Damnit, he was right here." Roebuck said.

Roebuck and Kanan turned and walked out of the office then out of the Snake Pit. In a back corner a man sat sipping a drink. After a moment he tapped a comm badge on his jacket. "Beam me over."

Roebuck and Kanan stepped aboard the shuttle and lifted off. The man watched them depart of a few meters away. "How's your wound?"

"Hurts like hell, but I'll be fine." Saunders replied.

"I think the dark haired man saw me and maybe recognized me." The man said.

"That's Lieutenant Christopher Kanan. He's with Starfleet Intelligence." Saunders replied.

"The loss of the gel will slow out plans down, but, at least they aren't looking for us now." The man replied.

Saunders nodded. "I know where we can get more, but getting access to the Artifact is going to be the key."

The man nodded.

A few minutes later, back aboard the Cutlass, Roebuck, Carter, and Kanan made their way to the Bridge. "Take us out of here, set course for Starbase 400, and take us to slipstream."

"Yes sir." The Ensign at Flight Control replied.

"I'm going to shower then contact the President. Let me know when we arrive at the Station." Roebuck added.

"Yes sir." Clayton replied.

"Good work, everyone." Roebuck added before leaving the Bridge.
