Mission: Episode 108 – Tragedies, Fortunes, and an Endgame
Location: Various Locations - Starbase 400
Timeline: Set Four days after the Halloween Party - Fifteen minutes after the end of Part Four

Lieutenant Rachael Yamaguchi was tired most days, she did her regularly assigned duties as Chief of Conn for the Starbase but also she did a lot of extra work in engineering, assisting with repairs to the battle damage sustained by the Starbase.

Yamaguchi's reverie was interrupted by a call from the com system. Her presence was requested by Admiral T'Lar. She lightly tapped her combadge. "I'm on my way, sir." she then departed the location where she was, heading for the Admirals office. Reaching her destination about ten minutes later, she tapped the door chime.

This was the last of the Yamaguchi family member that she needed to talk to. It was a pleasure having her on the Essex during the battle but it was time for the Yamaguchi's to adventure out and be close as a family should be. When the chime went off, Deela answered with a smile, "Enter, please."

The door opened and in walked Rachael Yamaguchi, she was wearing her standard duty uniform, she also had a rather potent smile on her lips. "You wanted to see me Admiral?" she inquired with a gentle smile. This was a woman that Rachael considered as family to her, considering what Deela had let Rachael get away with years earlier.

"Yes, please have a seat." She motioned to the chair, "I wanted to talk to you about some things." She watched her as she sat down and exhaled, "Where do I begin? I know that you have been busy. Have you talked to Torilla as of late?"

"Mom and I had lunch today, as a matter of fact... She mentioned she was preparing to depart... She had been reassigned to a Starbase a very long way from here. I hope she finds what she's looking for." Yamaguchi sighed. "She mentioned something about the Waterloo... But when mom's eating, she doesn't say much." Yamaguchi added. "Sometimes it's best to let her be... and not provoke the beast, so to speak."

Deela let out a slight laugh, "I know what you mean." She continued, "So she hasn't mentioned Gabe to you at all?" She wanted to find out of Rachael knew anything, if she had seen Gabe and didn't mention it to not get him in trouble.

"Gabe. What about Gabe?" Yamaguchi paused. "Nooo..." Yamaguchi dragged out the oh sound in the word no as she responded to T'Lars comment. "Mom did not mention this to me... That would explain much... About her being so distracted... I mean." she paused. "How long has this been known... and where is Gabe now?"

"Rachael, calm down. Don't be upset. Torilla has not said anything to you because I asked her not to and if I could tell you myself and she said yes." She waited for a moment to gather her thoughts, "So, this is the situation. Gabe is back and here on Starbase 400. He was messed up from the anguish of losing his wife and kids to the point of wanting revenge but don't worry. He did not act on it."

Deela paused for a moment to give Rachael a minute to process everything thus far, "Now, I talked to your father too. And he sprung on me some news of his own. Gabe's kids are alive and well." She was ready for the burst of emotion that might erupt from Rachael. She observed her as she took in what she was just told.

Yamaguchi paused as she regarded the other woman in stunned silence. "Wait... Gabe's kids are alive too?" she asked softly. "Where are they now?" she asked quietly.

"Your father has them. Some survivors from that attack where Savannah lost her life, brought them to a refugee collection point and after the kids were identified, they were sent to your father."

"Dad couldn't have told us because of the security lockout on the communications," Yamaguchi explained. "Saki is staying with dad as well. I don't doubt he'd make her useful to his cause... She would have fun and they would follow Saki around..."

Deela nodded, "Now, on to the next thing. Your mother and Elizabeth have been reassigned to Starbase 47. I will also be reactivating Gabe and he will also be going there as soon as he gets his kids."

"Good," Yamaguchi answered. "Mom can find some peace... Gabe can sort himself out and they can help each other with Elizabeth sorting out her issues with her boyfriend," she explained. "Admiral. With all due respect, this all sounds too good to be true..."

"But wait! There is more." She hoped that she would take the news she had as well, "You have also been reassigned there. I think this move will be good for you."

"I've been reassigned to Starbase 47 as well?" Yamaguchi paused. "It'll be good to serve alongside my family too." she regarded Deela T'Lar in silence for a moment. "I can have my daughter back and we can finally resolve all of our issues in one place." she paused. "Thank you, Admiral."

"You are welcome." She was great to see Rachael happy, "I wish you and your family all the happiness you deserve. It has been a pleasure serving with you."

"Serving with you... Has been an honour." Yamaguchi answered quietly as she regarded the older woman in front of her.

"Thank you. You have a week and a half to prepare. That should be plenty of time. Do you have any questions or concerns?"

"Will I still be heading out into the field on the Essex or no?"

Deela's expression was of disappointment, "I am sorry to say but no. I wish you could but I do not have a say in this. But I do appreciate what you did for the Essex the last time we fought. I am forever grateful."

"I did what I could Admiral," Rachael answered. "I wish Essex had more time so she could undergo a full overhaul in the yard... But she is ready for service... However with limited weapons and sensors. Her holes are patched but my report speaks for itself." she sighed softly. "I wish I could stay to oversee her refit..." Rachael let out a soft sigh. "Whatever the future holds for us both... I wish you all the best Admiral... Serving with you... Has been an honour."

Deela smiled, "The same goes for you. As for the USS Essex, she will have to do. We haven't the time to make her perfect. We will just have to hope that everything goes to plan and the Essex will not have to fight."

"I understand Admiral." Yamaguchi smiled. "Do you have any last orders for me?" the younger woman inquired.

"No, that is it." Deela stood up from her desk, "You will be greatly missed."

"Thank you, Admiral." Yamaguchi rose to her feet. "I don't have a lot to pack... I got quite good at living out of suitcases and crates." she paused as she waited for the Admiral to dismiss her.

"Hopefully, you will not have to do that anymore." Deela started to walk away from her desk, "Well then, I guess you can go."

Yamaguchi saw no need to prolong the goodbye then was needed. She turned and walked out of the office in silence.
