Episode 107 – Recovery
Location: Dustin's Office
Timeline: MD02 1800 hrs
Dustin hoped that was not a one night romantic whirlwind, that was brought on by the fact they were both trapped on the USS Falcon together. For the past few months. He walked over to her office, noticing she was still putting her office together. "I was stopping by to see if we are on for dinner tonight?" Dustin asked, with a warm smile.
“Yes,” Aubrey smiled. “I have been looking forward to spending time with you all day.” She has hoped he wasn’t backing out on her, she really liked him.
"Me too, but we should probably get something to eat. After all I have a game of minature golf to defeat you on." Dustin said, with a big playful grin on his face. He was trying to be cute and funny with his response. He hoped it did not fall on deaf ears.
“Food is good,” Aubrey grinned at him. “You will need the energy to keep up with me!”
"Oh really?" Dustin said, with a big grin on his face. He loved her sparky personality. "Shall we head off to dinner?" He asked, with a serious look on his face. He was desperately trying to hide the smile developing.
“Let’s,” Aubrey said with a smile. She was so glad they were moving forward. “I have to confess I was thinking about our date all day.”
They made it a small little resteraunt on the promenade. "This place is very charming." Dustin said, as he pulled out the chair for Aubrey.
“I like it,” Aubrey said as she sat down in the chair. “Thank you!” She smiled at him. It was the little things like his pulling out the chair that made him special.”
"No problem at all, I have been wanting to come here." Dustin said, knowing this was his first time going to this station restaurant.
“So have I,” Aubrey grinned. “The problem now is what to order. It always takes me a few minutes to decide.”
"I think we should look at the menu, cause I have no idea." Dustin said, with a chuckle in his tone. He had no idea, what he wanted to eat. He was happy to be going on a date with Aubrey.
Aubrey started to peruse the menu and groaned. “Oh this is going to be hard there are many to choose from.” She smiled at him.
"I know what you mean, I am having a hard time choosing too." Dustin said, as he started to look at the menu again, this was his second time through it. He had no idea what he wanted, everything looked good.
“I am tossing between chicken Kiev,” Aubrey replied. “Or the meat loaf.”’she looked again. “Then again the pot roast sounds good as well.”
"Hmm healthy versus home soul cooking, that is a hard one to choose from." Dustin said, with a smile on his face. He liked the idea of the meatloaf, but the idea of the chicken was not so bad either.
“It is a dilemma but I think I am going for the meat loaf,” Aubrey smiled. “It just sounds so good doesn’t it?”
"Me too." Dustin said, with a big grin on his face. "A little soul food, is probably what we need. Plus mash potatoes and a roll. Sounds very nice, right now." Dustin said, as his mouth started to savor.
“It is the meat loaf then,” Aubrey grinned. “And I am tossing between milk and lemonade to drink. Decisions.”
"Freckled lemonade for me." Dustin said, as he looked at the item on the menu. The idea of the drink, just made his mouth water even more.
“What is freckled lemonade,” Aubrey asked him with interest. She had never heard of it before.
"Lemonaid with strawberry slices in it. Sweet but tangy." Dustin said, as pointed it out on the menu to Aubrey.
“Okay,” Aubrey grinned. “You sold me, I am going to try it.”
"Oh so you can blame if you hate it?" He playfully teased. He loved the fact, she was going to try it. Because he suggested it.
“It sounds really good,” Aubrey said with a smile. “I love strawberries and lemonade is one of my favorites.”
"Then you should like this." Dustin pointed out, as a waiter stopped by. Dustin gave his order, then the waiter turned to her. Asking she what she wanted.
Aubrey gave her her order and then looked over at Dustjn. “How did your day go?”
"Not to bad, just re arranging my work space, you?" Dustin asked. He hoped her day was better than his security.
“I am inspecting the engines while we are on break,” Aubrey replied. “Replacing some necessary parts, things like that.”
"Sounds like you working with the corps of engineers, you poor soul." Dustin said, with a teasing grin. Working with them sucked. They were not well liked by Starship commanders.
“It isn’t my favorite job,” Aubrey confesses. “But it is a necessary evil.”
"Well thank you for doing it." Dustin said, thinking to himself, maybe he job was not so bad after all. "When do you have to go back?" Dustin asked, hoping she said tomorrow.
“Two days,” Aubrey said with a smile. “So I have some free time, what about you?”
"I have tomorrow off. You got hooked up." Dustin said, as he wondered how she got so lucky. She totally deserved it, but how. With all the work going on, two days was very rare.
“I worked fourteen yesterday,” Aubrey explained. “And twelve today. They frown on personnel overworking.”
"Sounds like you need a you day, maybe a reservation at the spy, assuming its open?" Dustin said, thinking to himself, it would be nice to have a massage as well.
“That would be fun if we went together,” Aubrey said with a smile. “She wanted to spend time with him.
"It would be." Dustin said, as the scene starts to fade away.
