Meeting the New Officer

Mission: Episode 106 – Stalemate
Location: USS Pegasus
Timeline: MD4 - 1700hrs

Mike had returned to the Pegasus after his less than good visit to the USS Saratoga. He had mission plans to make, but first he wanted to speak to a new member of the Starbase 400 crew, the new Assistant Chief Security/Tactical Officer, Lieutenant Xalanth.

Entering his Ready Room, Mike took a seat at his desk and looked over Xalanth's Starfleet File. A Dragonian, only one of a few in Starfleet. Close relative of the Draconian species and probably to the Gorn too. Mike had worked closely with Draconian, Admiral Zarek Dragon, for many years. One of his longest serving Marines was a Gorn, so the site of the 'large lizard' didn't take him off guard as it did many, but, it was still something to get use too.

Xalanth had a smile on his face as the turbo lift shot up the ship to the bridge. It would nice to finally meet the commanding officer. Stepping out of the lift he crossed from the bridge and headed to the ready room. Starting his uniform he waited for the door signal to indicate he was there.

"Enter." Mike called.

Stepping through the door the lizard politely nodded as he stood to attention. " Lieutenant Xalanth reporting sir." he said calmly

"At ease Lieutenant, welcome aboard the USS Pegasus." Mike motioned toward the chair on the other side of his desk. "Care for something to drink?"

" Some water will do fine sir. " The lizard said as he took the seat.

Mike ordered a water and another raktijno for himself from the food slot. He handed Xalanth the water as he took a sip of his drink.

"Have you settled into your quarters yet?" Mike asked.

" Slowly sir. Taking some time to adjust not living with four daughters." the lizard replied calmly.

Mike smirked, "I have one that's just been ressigned here after a few years so I understand. Do you have any questions or concerns? I know taking a new position during a war can be stressful."

" Most of my family is safe back on my homeworld. My third mate is currently undercover on a Starfleet intel operation, one I know I don't have clearance to know about." The lizard responded professionally as only someone who'd been in war could respond. " This isn't my first time in an all out war sir."

Mike nodded, that was a good thing. "Good, because I want to be able to trust all of my officers."

Mike shifted in his chair, "In the coming days, we're going to retake Starbase 400. I want you aboard the USS Essex for that operation. Admiral T'Lar's ships can use all the good people they can get. Beam over, get familiar with her, and be ready to depart."

" Will do sir. I head over and introduce myself. I'll make sure nothing happens to the ship. " He replied with confidence.

Mike stood, "Very good, and again. Welcome aboard."

" Glad to be here sir." the lizard replied standing up himself.
