Kaden swung by his quarters to gather his emergency supply of medication. When he walked in he noticed Freya was gone but Artemis was sitting at the door waiting for him. Smiling he picked up his cat rubbing his head as he walked over to his medication. A small part of Kaden was hoping Freya wouldn't show up as he was terrible at seeing her worry she not see him alive again.
Freya had been out and about around the station but she’d just heard about the fact that there was an armada leaving the station including Kaden’s ship. She arrived home just in time to see Kaden gathering his things ready to leave.
Kaden picked up Artemis petting him as he headed for the door but stopped seeing Freya standing there. He could see she was already worried about him leaving as apparently word of the fleet leaving spread around fast. "Freya?"
"Were you going to leave without saying goodbye?" She looked at Kaden unhappily. "I know you have to go I already heard, but I'd still prefer you say goodbye before you leave."
Kaden sighed and nodded his head there no point lying to her besides he had always promised to tell her the truth since they met. "I...know but I hate seeing you stressed out worrying about me it's not good for you and the baby." He said before sitting down.
Freya anxiously fiddled with the locket around her neck. “I know you do, I will try not to worry but you know how much I hate being away from you under these circumstances.”
Kaden watched Freya hold the locket he gave her on their first anniversary they met in her hand. He was happy she never took it off like she promised but it was also something she usually did when she was scared. "I know you are scared I promise you I will do everything in my power to get home alive."
Freya nodded and offered a brief smile. “I know you will. I’ll be down at the docking bay waiting for you when you get back!”
Kaden took Freya and held her close to him feeling her rest her head on his chest. "Freya, I hate seeing you scared like this makes it harder knowing I have leave you here." He confessed.
Freya wiped away a few tears, she wasn’t normally the weepy type but being pregnant had her hormones and emotions all over the place. “We’ll be fine, I would request to go with you but it’s going to be dangerous and I’d just be a distraction for you. So you go and do your job Imzadi.” She looked up at him before giving him a romantic kiss.
"I ever tell you how much I love it when you call me that?" Kaden asked with a smile.
“Every time” Freya smiled as she let go of the pendant feeling more relaxed. “Can I walk you to the ship? The least I can do is see you off.”
Kaden nodded as he gave his cat Artemis a loving gentle hug hearing him purr in delight for what may be the last time. "Promise me you will look after, Artemis?" He asked.
"Of course I will." Freya smiled as she stroked Artemis. She'd become quite fond of him in the years she and Kaden had been together. "Besides you'll be back in no time!" She gently squeezed his hand. "I guess we should be going, you don't want to be late."
Kaden sighed as he walked over to the replicator ordering Artemis some food and water. Setting his cat on the floor he watched him gleefully began eating before turning to his love. "Alright, let's go." As the large marine motioned for her to go first.
Exiting their quarters Freya walked in silence gripping Kaden's hand tightly. She'd never felt this nervous about him going out and leaving her before, being pregnant made it all the more nerve wracking for her. She dreaded getting bad news, not that she was expecting to get it.
Kaden could tell his love was scared deep down he was a little bit as well. He wrapped his arm around her waist pulling her against him. How he wished he could guarantee he was coming back alive but the only thing Kaden can do is try his best as humanly possible.
