"Double 20s and close my 18s," Melody said as she removed her darts from the dart board in the game room of her tavern. The computer displayed her score on the digital score board as she walked back to the table where her beer was and picked it up to take a drink as her opponent stepped up to the line and prepared to throw his darts.

Nobody paid any attention to the Arkarian who had been sitting in a dark corner of the bar and nobody noticed that he had been nursing the same glass of Arkarian ale for the two hours that he had been sitting there or that he had been watching Melody's every move since he had sat down.

Melody's opponent threw his first dart and it totally missed the dart board. Those watching the game burst into laughter and some jeered as he threw his remaining darts.

"Close my 15s," Melody's opponent announced as he removed his darts from the board.

Melody took another sip of her beer and stepped up to the line. She aimed and threw her first dart, then her second and third. She walked up to the dart board and announced, "single bull, single 17 and close my 20s." She removed her darts and headed back to the table as the computer updated the display on the score board.

The game continued for the next 30 minutes and when it was finished, Melody collected her winnings and bought a round for her opponent She walked back behind the bar and spent the next few hours joking with the tavern's patrons who were sitting at the bar. At 0145 she rang a large antique sailing ship's bell and announced, "last call. Drink's are on the house."

Melody left the tavern at 0220 after going over the night's receipts. She didn't notice the Arkarian lurking in the shadows of the upper level of the Promenade nor did she notice that he followed her all the way to the docking port where the Blaze was moored.
