"Admiral's Log, Stardate 65390.1. It's been two days since the group that went with the Pegasus and I to Earth returned to the station. While we're all happy to have Leutenant General Fultian-Bremer home, as well as the added support of the additional vessels assigned to the station, tensions are still high in this area of the Federation. Toral is hiding somewhere within Romulan space, and of course the Romualans claim they have no idea where he is, even though the Federation and Klingon Empire have been pushing the Romulans to give him up.
Also related to the Romulans is their solidified alliance with the Gorn, Tholians, Breen, and others. We continue to see increased activity along the Romulan, Gorn, and Tholian borders, but so far no incursions. Our patrols of the areas have also increased, and all it'll take it one false to turn this cold war very hot.
Closer to home, we're also dealing with an increase in priate activity from within The Triangle. Intelligence has confirmed that the majority of Pirate groups have joined together, with Clark as their leader. He's originizing them, for what we do not know. This could lead to attacks against bigger targets and/or more frequent attacks on shipping that strays too close.
We're also trying to reach out to Federation members on the colony worlds that will seen be within the Neutral Zone once again. A possible uprising, similar to the Maquis seen prior to the Dominion war in the DMZ between Federation and Cardassian space, is still a strong possiblity. While the colonies affected are rather new, ten to tweleve years old...these are their homes. They don't want to leave. I can't say I wouldn't feel the same if I was in their position, honestly. However, for their safety, they need to leave. The missing Sydney class runabouts are complacating the situation.
Are the missing transports related to the uprising, or to Clark's Pirate group, or to both? We need to know. I've assigned Captain K`Temoc and the new Special Operations Team the job of fiding our. The Yorktown will be departing tomorrow on the covert mission.
Here at Starbase 400, things are status quo. All ships have been repair or will soon be finished. The Enterprise-E departed under tow last night, heading for Earth and her final berth at the Starfleet Museum. Also, we've learned that the planned launch of the USS Enterprise-F have been delayed as the Guardian class fleet carrier has been renamed...leaving Starfleet without a USS Enterprise in the fleet for the first time in many years...but I'm sure plans are in the works.
I've also had the pleasure of meeting our newest civilian freighter Captain that's based out of SB400, Captain Melody Johnson, but only in passing. I believe our promenade will be very happy to have her bringing her goods here.
End log."
Mike stood from his desk and saved the log. He looked out his office window for a moment, then picked up his cup of raktijno and headed for Ops.
