Splendora sighed, “Alright.” She eyed Nivar with weariness. “I….I don’t know that I have a choice.”
He sighed, “There is always a choice. You need guidance.”
That she knew. “Alright Mr. Nivar. I trust my senses and right now they say that you…are being truthful with me.”
He gave a nod. “We start tomorrow Doctor Sage. The closer you get to sequence activation the worse it will get. You need a strong mind, body, and soul.”
She smiled slightly.
Nivar chuckled, “Yes well there must have been a reason you chose that name for your business.”
She sighed, “Tom ….”
Nivar shook his head, “He is your weakness.”
She smiled, “He is my heart beating. I draw strength from him.”
He didn’t say anything. “Alright. You start training tomorrow. Meet me on the promenade 0400 hours.”
She gave a nod and watched him leave her quarters. She was committed now. Standing she hurried through her evening routine, shower, teeth, lotion, hair, and straight to bed.
This evening she had trouble falling asleep. Her mind was filled with so much. She had to get to the bottom of this. She felt that Nivar was being honest with her…at least with what he’d said. He was holding something back ad it was for her protection. While she appreciated everyone protecting her she had to know.
She would train with Nivar get ready for whatever this sequencing activation meant but she would do her own research. Earlier she’d met with her new Ferengi friend. He was a vile little man but he had ways of getting information that were supernatural. Like all of his kind he was driven by latinum and she’d given him plenty with a promise of plenty more.
She thought back to her time on Cardassia and the fights. Something had changed in her from there. She felt….a little less like herself and that worried her. She didn’t want to speak with anyone about this…not yet. Not until she knew why or what was going on with her.
Finally around the time that midnight struck she fell into a fitful sleep. Tomorrow would be a new day and she just hoped that she was strong enough to make it through the day.
She felt as if the sword of Shinara, a former Betazoid queen, was hanging over her head. How would this all turn out? She’d have to wait and see.
