744 words; about a 4 minute read

Mission: Mission 77 - No Time for the Dishonored
Location: Various
Timeline: Current / Stardate 65228.1

OFF: Time to be moving on....

ON:

Mike walked out onto the Bridge from his Ready Room...

"Captain Harrison, signal all ships, prepare to move out."

Mike sat in the CO's chair, and tapped the communications button on the right arm rest, "Control this is Pegasus, requesting permission to depart."

The reply came quickly, the warm feminine voice replied, "Permission granted Pegasus, safe journey back to Starbase 400. Fairwell."

The channel closed, then Mike looked toward his long service crewmember at the Conn, "Chief Branson, take us out of orbit, set course for Starbase 400. Full impulse til we clear the inner marker then take us to warp seven."

"Aye sir...breaking orbit and increasing speed to full impulse. Heading 215 mark 301 for Starbase 400."

Admiral Bremer leaned back in his chair, then looked up at Harrison at Tactical. "Settled in?"

Harrison nodded with a smile.

Bremer smiled back, "Good. Once we're at warp, go spend time with your son."

Captain K`Temoc was in his chair in the middle of the Bridge. Dar was at Tactical One, Smith was at the Bridge Engineering station, O'Reily was at Tactical Two, and Sosuke was at the Conn/Ops station forward.

As the Defiant class USS Yorktown broke orbit following the much larger Galaxy Class Refit USS Pegasus, K`Temoc spoke up.

"Gentlemen, as you know we have a situation developing along the Romulan border. Possible colonial revolts, Starfleet Officers turning traitor, Pirates, Romulans poking their nose where it doesn't belong...the whole area is becoming a powder keg with the match lit. Now, we have intel that several Sydney class runabouts have been stolen. They were modified during the dominion war, weaponized. The Admiral has assigned me to tracking them down, finding them and returning them to SB400 or destroying them, whatever it takes to keep them out of the hands of the Romulans, Clark and his Pirates, Westmoreland and his traitors, and even from the Colonies' citizens. I've picked you for my Special Operations Team. Each of you have special training, skills, and experience that will be key in this operation...and possibly others in the future."

He paused a moment to look at each of them.

"Once we're at warp, Ensign Dar and Chief O`Reily can give more specific information on the Sydneys. When we get back to SB400 we'll check for last minute intel while the Yorktown is preped, then depart. Any questions or concerns?"

K`Temoc's usual relaxed command style seemed to be on pause...this was a serious issue...and he needed his team to realize that. But he knew they were professionals, and knew they would be focused.

Acting-Ensign K`Wor stood at the Security/Tactical station aboard the USS Avenger. This was his first time serving aboard an Intrepid class ship. That made six classes of vessels he'd service aboard since becoming an Acting-Ensign and waiting for this Starfleet Academy classes to begin next year. Luna, Intrepid, Galaxy Refit, Prometheus, Defiant, and Akira. The experience would be great when he got into the class room, having learned the practical side before the theories.

It also helped having seen several different command styles. His father, Admiral Bremer, his uncle, Captain K`Temoc, Captain Andrews, Commander Winter, Commander Coleman, and now Captain Greenwood.

K`Wor looked over and down at Captain Greenwood as he ordered the ship to follow the Yorktown, breaking orbit. Calm, collected...even for this `normal` ship operation. He then looked over at Lieutenant Gillo at Operations. He watched her for a moment as she checked ship's systems and allocated power as the vessel got under way. The, the young man ran a quick sensor sweep of the area.

"Captain, sensors show we're clear. Shipping lanes are clear. Ship is secured."

Captain Greenwood gave a nod, "Very good Ensign" as the vessel moved away from Earth.

As the ten ship Task Force formed up in a standard formation. Pegasus took the lead with Yorktown and Laffey flanking her on either side. Steadfast also formed up close from astern. Saratoga, Constantinople, Vanguard, Endeavor, Venator, and Avenger finished up the formation as the ships moved along at full impulse.

"Admiral, we've cleared the inner marker." Chief Branson announced.

"Thank you Chief. Take us to warp." Bremer replied.

A moment later, the ten ships each shot away and into warp, and bright white flashes signaled their goodbye to the Sol System.
