Episode 95 - Helping Old Friends
Location: T'Lar's quarters
Timeline: MD10 - Current
Jewel needed to talk to someone, she didn't really like counselors but she thought of her good friend Deela and decided to go talk to her. Once she reached her quarters she pressed the chime and waited for an answer. She had a lot on her mind, that she needed to get it out in the open.
Deela wasn't expecting anyone. She walked over to her door as it slid open, "Jewel? Come on in." She could feel that her friend had something on her mind. "Have a seat."
She tried to smile at her friend as she walked in and took a seat, "I don't know if I can do this anymore Deela. Things are not the same anymore." Jewel said as she sighed looking down.
"Cannot do what anymore? She felt for her friend.
"My marriage, ever since his accident and going back to duty, things have changed in him and I don't like it at all. I know I am not one to just throw in the towel as you would say but, it's getting worse and not better especially since the birth of Alena." Jewel replied with a sigh.
'I did notice that on this last mission. I could sense the tension between the two of you. His attitude on the bridge on this last mission, well, let us just say that I was not pleased with him." She felt bad for saying that but she couldn't lie. She got up from her seat on the couch, got two glasses of wine, came back and handed her one, "I think that he really needs to go get some kind of counseling. I could mandate him to do it."
She took a glass from her, "I think that would be good because if he doesn't do something I don't think I can stay with him anymore. Don't get me wrong I love him, but what he's changed into I don't." Jewel replied looking at her as she took a sip of the wine.
"I understand. I will do that when I get to OPS on my shift. Maybe we can get the old David back." She took a sip of her wine, "I would hate to see a marriage end."
"Me to, I don't want to put my children through that. Especially Jay and Liberty they already dealt with that before when their father up and left. I can't do that again, but I can't subject them to the changes that David is showing now either." Jewel replied with a sigh as she took another drink, a tear ran down her face.
Deela put her hand on her knee, "I'll see what I can do. I will drag him there kicking and screaming if I have to." She smiled slightly, trying to lighten her mood just a little.
She smiled and chuckled for a moment, "now I'd like to see that." Jewel replied looking at her.
"You may get to." She got more serious, "How do you think he will react when he finds out that he's being mandated to a psyche evaluation?"
"I believe he is gonna flip," she said as she thought of his reaction. Lately, he's taken the simplest orders and turned them around to be bad and would act wrongly. She felt that David would embarrass her. "I also think he might cause a little scene that would be rather embarrassing," Jewel admitted with a sigh as she took another sip.
She sipped more of her wine, "Don't worry. I will not let him embarrass you." If push came to shove, she could always use the Vulcan neck pinch.
She nodded and she knew what she was thinking and couldn't help but smile a bit. "You really think that would work on him Deela? He might overreact that as well." Jewel replied with a smile and a shake of her head.
She shrugged, "I do not know. Maybe he will not fight me on this and go. I doubt if he would want to make himself look foolish."
"I hope so, you know lately he has been making himself look foolish," Jewel said with a sigh looking at her friend. "Thanks for letting me talk to you, you are a very good friend and I cherish our friendship more then anything Deela." Jewel replied looking at her.
Deela smiled at the word 'friend'. "I do too. My door will always be open to you." She set her glass down, "Everything will work out."
"I hope so," she said as she stood up. "I have to go to the Medical bay to check up on Alena, she should be able to leave soon." She said as she looked at Deela.
Deela stood up as well, "That is good news. I will let you know when I am ready to confront David too."
She nodded, "Thanks Deela." Jewel replied as she said her goodbyes then exited and made her way down to sickbay to check on the status of Alena. She was ready for her baby to come home with the rest of them.
