Mission:
Mission 76 - Home comings
Location: Various Locations via Secure Uplink
Timeline: 0600, 32 hours since initial Shore Leave
ON:
Damian was sitting in the high backed, black leather chair in what was now his study. Since he had inherited the house from his parents, he had been just taking it all in. Looking at the terminal in front of him that contained the various contingencies for his group of two colonies. He was going to have two infantry battalions of Marines on standby, two mechanized unit active on the surfaces, and two flights of fighters on atmospheric patrols. This wasn't counting the two capitol ships in orbit and the emergency evacuation plans that were going to be set in place. The colonel rubbed his eyes that were starting to burn from 24 hours of no sleep. Checking his chronograph, he noticed that it was just past 0600 and it was time for his meeting with Captains Andrews and K'Temoc and Commander Wright. He tapped the touchpad to open a video channel to the rest of the officers. He patched it through to the wall screen so he could see.
The first person to appear was Captain K`Temoc. He was still aboard the Pegasus, using the XO's Ready Room. "Hope I'm not late, was in a meeting with the Admiral. I'm sending you all some data regarding a possible additional threat to not only the colonies, but to us if a Colony rebels and this Intel is accurate."
K`Temoc tapped a few buttons and sent the other three men on the secured conference the information regarding the missing Sydney class Runabouts and weaponized Replicators.
While he waited for Captain Andrews and Lieutenant Commander Wright, K`Temoc looked over his contingency plans for the two colonies he was assigned.
He knew SB400's ships and Marines would be stretched thin if they had to defend the planets, so he had recommended just one battalion of Marines augmented by two Security teams and supported by a Marine Mechanized unit. With the 181st also spread thin, he'd had to settle for one Flight of fighters for close in support and two Starships in orbit for over all mission support. If Romulans or Clark's forces attacked, there would be a four ship support force comprised of vessels assigned to the Ares Sector, and given two colonies they were charged with backing up.
If the worst case scenario came to pass, K'Temoc recommended concentration of forces and taking back one Colony at a time. Since Clark and his group didn't have any vessel larger than Raiders and Runabouts in their `fleet`, he suggested an assault force that would simply overwhelm them. Ten starships supported by the full 181st. Once the air was secured, the First Marine Division would start simultaneous landings by Runabout and Shuttle as well as transporter to occupy the Colony's capital and other vital locations such as space ports, power distribution, etc. Once the Colony was secure, support units comprised of vessels operating in the Ares Sector would then move in to maintain the peace while the ships and Marines from SB400 moved on to the next Colony.
K`Temoc looked up from his notes to see if anyone else had joined the conference.
Damian looked up "My apologies, Captain. It seems that Captain Andrews and Command Wright won't be able to join us. I have been reading your contingency plans and I'm very impressed. I just notice that you're deploying security teams on the planet, do you think that's wise, sir?"
K`Temoc nodded, "No apologies, I'm sure they are busy." He paused a moment, "Unfortunately, I don't believe we have sufficient Marine numbers to hold, or assault, if we have to take on multiple landings at once. When I was the Marine CO aboard the USS Octivian during the Dominion War, we had to used similar methods to not over stretch men and materials. I trust Captain Harrison and know she will have her people ready, if needed."
He leaned back in his chair, waiting for the question is was always asked when someone found out he was once in the Starfleet Marines, `Why did you leave the Corps?` It wasn't really a 'bad' question though, just one that always seemed to come up...
"Understood, sir." Damian didn't agree with K'Temoc's strategy but he deferred to it, due to the man's knowledge in deep space tactics. He knew Captain K'Temoc's history with the Corps and that only increased his respect for him.
"Also, my contingency plans are being transmitted to you now. Have a look, if you want to implement any of mine, feel free." Damian said before he took a sip of coffee.
K'Temoc nodded, "I'm going to bring both to the Admiral, but I think if attacks are limited to one system at a time, you'll plan will work well. If we're hit in multiple areas, we'll use aspects of mine to cover any gaps."
He tapped a few commands on his PADD and downloaded Lieutenant Colonel Highsmith's plans. As it downloaded, the panel beside him peeped and alerted him to the Admiral's ship assignments.
He smirked, "Looks like the 'old man' is ready to head for home. If you're satisfied, we'll call this a done deal."
Damian nodded "I think we're good here, sir. See you back at base. Highsmith, out." he said and deactivated the uplink.
