Mission: Mission 76 - Home comings
Location: Bremer's Lake House, Earth
Timeline: The following morning...

OFF: Got to move us ahead a little...this will be a long one lol...

ON:
In the predawn hours, Mike was already dressed in his duty uniform, cup of raktijno in hand. He stood in his bedroom in his house on Earth. He leaned down and kissed his wife Janice softly on her forehead as she slept. He didn't want to wake her...she'd be up soon enough anyway.

Mike left their room and walked down the hall way, pasted their kids' rooms, then down the stairs to the ground floor, and made his way to his office. He didn't bother to take a seat when he tapped his desktop display. A moment later, and older dark skinned male human in civilian clothing appeared on the screen.

"Hello Admiral, we're ready for you." Retired Rear Admiral Mike Watkins said as the channel opened.

"Thank you." Bremer replied with a smile. "Energize when ready."

A few moments later, Bremer was covered in a blue energy that glittered and glowed. As he dematerialized, Janice walked into the room...

"Mike?" She asked as her husband disappeared. She knew that if he was up at 0530 that it must be important, and since he didn't wake her she figured he would bring her up to speed later in the day. Still, she was a little sad he didn't mention anything to her about leaving so early in the morning and she turned around to return to bed...

Bremer rematerialized aboard the central hub for the Starfleet Museum which orbited Earth. Many of Starfleet's old warriors, proud ships from the past were on display there and toured by millions of people, civilian and Starfleet alike, every year. One in particular would be Mike's destination this morning.

Stepping for the transporter control room, Mike Watkins was a tall, slender man, about sixty-five Earth years in age. His shirt had the emblem for the SFM embroidered on the right breast. The now retired Rear Admiral was now the chief curator for the museum, and as a personal favor to Bremer, allowed him to come aboard long before the museum opened to the public for the day. "Welcome back Admiral."

Bremer shook Watkins hand, "Thank you Mike. I won't be too long."

"Take your time, we don't open for another three hours." Watkins smiled as he and Bremer left the transporter room and walked to the central hub. From there, visitors had access to all of the nearly fifty ships on display.

NX01 was there, as well as NCC-1701-A and NCC-1701-B. Besides them, space was being made for NCC-1701-E, which would be making her way from Starbase 400 to Earth in the next month. Many other vessels were also there, NCC-2000 was always a favorite for visitors. However there was one ship that Bremer had more personal ties...NCC-1702...USS Pegasus.

Bremer made his way over to her access way. Since the museum was officially closed still, all access ports were sealed, however Bremer knew the unlock code and he typed it into the panel beside the door. Once entered, the panel beeped and the doors opened. Bremer walked down the access way. Similar to the ones aboard Starbase 400, there were many windows for people to see the historic ships external beauty before stepping aboard.

The Constitution class USS Pegasus NCC-1702 was built and commissioned the San Francisco Fleet Yards at Earth in 2246 at. She was named to honor the NX-10 Pegasus. Mike's great-grandfather Captain Walter Norman Bremer took command of the ship in 2265, a position he would hold for nearly thirty years, retiring as a Vice Admiral in 2294. The Pegasus herself also had a long and distinguished career. Exploration and patrols missions occupied her early years. In 2281, the Pegasus became the last of the original Constitution class vessels to be refit. Following her refit, the Pegasus would spend much of the next fifteen years in Beta Quadrant on exploration missions and patrolling of the Klingon and Romulan boarders. She also saw her fair share of combat, going in harm's way against the Klingons, Romulans, and others. In 2294, when Vice Admiral Bremer retired from Starfleet, the Pegasus herself went through a major overhaul and systems upgrade that lasted just over a year. In October 2295, the ship was in service again, this time under the command of Captain Johnathan Roebuck. Roebuck was known as a maverick at times, even in an era where `shoot first, ask questions later` was common. Even so, Roebuck was well respected for getting even the toughest jobs done, as well as doing the right thing, even if that wasn't the popular option. Captain Roebuck would be the Pegasus's final CO, and he retired as a Rear Admiral in 2321, the same year the ship was decommissioned.

However...like many things in the galaxy, the NCC-1702, would ride again. Following the loss of the Galaxy Refit USS Pegasus NCC-53847-A, just after the Dominion War ended, the proud, old, warrior was decommissioned for one final mission.

As Mike stepped onto the Bridge, he slowed walked around each station, looking over the monitors and panels. Most displayed general ship and system data as if the ship was still in commission in the mid 2290s. Some were interactive, and still others displayed data from specific missions the ship took park in. Pictures were also displayed throughout. They showed the ship's crew from the time of the ship's commissioning, up though her decommissioning. Then, there were a few that were displayed on the bulkhead beside the ship's main viewer. In one, was Mike himself in the ship's command chair. Beside it, was a picture of his great-grandfather in the same chair eighty years before. Both men, sitting in the same bodily position and if it wasn't for the uniform and caption below each picture it would be hard to tell them apart.

Mike smiled to himself, then looked at the command chair. He stepped over to it, and slowly sat down. As he did, his thoughts drifted back twelve years to the loss of the `Pegasus-A` and the mission aboard this vessel. He and his crew were on Earth for R&R, reassignment, and of course debriefing over the loss of the ship. That was when Starfleet Command came to him. Starfleet Academy vessels had been disappearing in Sector 004. Starfleet had sent vessels to investigate, but they had found nothing. So, some wise Admiral at Starfleet Command had the idea of sending an `old ship` in, one that would be seen as another training vessel. Fleet Admiral Bremer and his Command Crew were chosen, and the USS Pegasus NCC-1702 was recommissioned for the assignment. Once in Sector 004, the Pegasus slipped though a Wormhole and was taken to the far side of the Gamma Quadrant. Once there, the Pegasus's Science teams, along with the Science teams for the four missing ships (they had been pulled through the wormhole too) found a way to draw the wormhole's mouth to them, where they could enter the hole and return to Sector 004. The wormhole was unstable however, and collapse after they returned. It was later determined that the older warp drive systems these ships were still using was pulling the wormhole to them, and all Academy vessels were upgraded to correct this problem. Once back to Earth, the USS Pegasus NCC-1702 was again decommissioned and returned to the Museum. Her historical items and displays were pulled out of storage and she was reopened to the public a year later.

No enemy to fight, but the ship once again saved many lives and brought her crew home safely.

Bremer leaned back in the chair and closed his eyes, and for a moment, he thought he could hear the chatter of a bridge crew at work at their stations, ghosts of the past.

Mike was very proud of his family's history, and with Colonel Pike having a family history lesson of his own, it made Mike want to revisit with his family's history, being on Earth only added to that.

After spending some time on the Bridge, Mike toured the rest of the vessel. Many historical items and pictures of his great-grandfather and his crew though the years were on display. In the CO's Quarters, many personal items and pictures that belonged to Walter Norman Bremer were displayed. Family pictures, some even dating back to the late 1990s and early 2000s were there. It was obvious, family and history was important to Walter just as they were to Mike.

As he walked through the corridors back toward the access port, he realized it was already 0830 hours and the museum was about to open to the public. Time seemed to stand still when he was aboard, but three hours had passed by.

Bremer returned to the Museum's Central Hub, thanked Watkins again, then tapped his comm-badge.

"Bremer to Pegasus, one to beam aboard."

Once aboard, he headed for the Bridge and was promptly greeted by his Yeoman, Petty Officer Aquilina de Luca.

"Admiral, Ensign Dar and Chief O'Reily are requesting to speak with you, they said it's urgent." The young woman said.

Bremer nodded, "Have them meet me in my ready room, and ask Captain Harrison and Captain K`Temoc to join us."

"Aye sir." The Petty Officer replied as she went off to contact the men.

Bremer entered his Ready Room and waited...
