Mission:
Episode 93 - Warrior VS Warrior
Location: Starbase 400, Tactical Astrometerics
Timeline: MD5, 1310hrs
ON:
Mike didn't get a long rest. An hour later he was in Tactical Astrometerics watching the big screen. He was monitoring a battle in Klingon space between Loyalist and Opposition forces. Opposition forces attacked the Loyal Klingon ships defending the Khitomer system overnight, but suffered heavy losses and were forced out of the sector when Klag Sa’ and his relieve force arrived. The Klingon Loyalists managed to capture B'Ral Sa', the Opposition Fleet Commander for the region and were taking him to QonoS to be questioned.
While that battle wound down, another was heating up as General J'mpok was leading a counter attack to retake K’Vak Station. Mike zoomed in on the battle area as info for each ship appeared next to its dot. A few disappeared indicating they had been destroyed. Mike noticed J’mpok’s ship and two others remaining outside the battle area and Mike thought it was very unKlingon-like for a warrior to sit out a battle like that.
As Mike watched, something seemed odd to him, but he couldn’t put his finger on it. He made sure he was recording the sensor readings then tapped in a few commands to play back the logs of the battle on part of the screen. After a few minutes he saw a pattern. Not only should more ships of been destroyed by this stage of battle, but maneuvers by the Opposition Forces and many of J’mpok’s ships repeat themselves far too often. Mike then pulled up a separate sensor feed, this one from Starbase 400 itself. He used over of the Station’s long range intelligence sensor arrays that was typically monitoring Romulan space and aimed it toward K’Vak Station. The sensor data matched, ship for ship, but visual scans showed something different. There was nothing there, no battle. J’mpok’s ship was in peaceful orbit of K’Vak Station. Mike made sure that sensor data was being recorded too.
Mike looked back at the handful of Intelligence Officers in the room, “Clear the room.” Mike ordered.
Commander Rann looked back at the Admiral. “Sir, we’re actively monitoring the situation in Klingon space, checking on the progress of the USS New Hampshire along the Gorn border, and…”
Mike cut him off, “Clear the room now Commander.”
A few moments later, with the room clear, Mike opened a secured and encrypted channel to the First City of the Klingon Empire. A few moments later Martok appeared on the screen. After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Mike got down to business and sent Martok the data he had. The Chancellor was outraged to say the least.
“J’mpok is scheduled to return to QonoS after his attack on K’Vak Station to attend a High Council meeting. I will confront him with the proof of his treason, and then I will kill him.” Martok finally said.
After a few more minutes of convocation the channel was closed. Mike looked back at the big screen for a few minutes and watched ‘J’mpok’s fleet’ withdraw from the area while visually J’mpok’s ship departed K’Vak alone. A few minutes later a made up damage report was transmitted by K’Vak Station to other Opposition forces.
Mike set the intelligence array to continue to monitor the K’Vak Station area then allowed the Intelligence Officers back in. He sent a report of what he found, copies of the sensor logs, and that he advised Chancellor Martok to Fleet Admiral Sevlek and to Fleet Admiral Akaar direction. Both were secured and encrypted, just in case. Mike then left Tactical Astrometerics and returned to his office.
