Location: USS Vangaurd, Talosian star system

"Sir," Commander Rabb said. "We have a priority one message from the Laffey."

"One screen," James said. It was Ensign K'Wor. "Ensign, what's going on here?"

"Sir, we've detected what appears to be a Federation Antares class vessel, and we're quite sure it's the Columbia."

James' eyes widen. "Are you absolutely sure ensign?"

"Commander Winter is quite certain, sir."

James didn't want to argue with the son of the admiral. "How did it get there?"

"We think it was shot down, and we believe that whoever shot it down, may still be in the vicinity."

James nodded. "Meaning that it could start shooting at us."

"That's what we think, we're under cloak, so we're under no immediate danger."

"Good, if things get harry, we'll cover you. Thanks for the update, Vanguard out," James turned to his command chair. "What are the chances that the state of the ship is in danger, commander?"

Rabb nodded. "I think we should take the same precautions as the Lafey."

"Agreed," he sat up from his chair. "Yellow alert, Lt. Roberts raise shields and send a priority one message to Starfleet, Admiral Bremer's eyes only. He'll need to be notified."

"Yes sir."

"Let's be in a position in case things get hot. If we're going to get shot at, let's make sure we have a chance to return the favour."
