Mission:
Mission 76 - Home comings
Location: USS Laffey
Timeline: Current
With the Laffey out of SB 400 and heading for Talos IV, Thorin, the Andorian XO of Laffey had a worried look on his face.
General Order Seven had been put in place precisely because of what the Talosians were capable of. Starfleet Couched this mission as routine but having four starships when a runabout could have easily did the job speaks volumes of What Starfleet received in the communique from the Talosian Government if any still exist.
He looked at Commander Winter who was obviously lost in thought himself watching the viewscreen as the stars shifted by. It was of quiet contemplation.
Andorians never bothered to venture out this far, and thus he would be the first Andorian to see a world that even the Andorian Imperial Guard had written off.
It reminded him of the ancient stories of Atlantis on earth and Aldea, a planet once visited by the Enterprise-D.
"Captain." Thorin said and Winter turned his command chair to face him. "There has been no contact with the Talosians since they made their request. I have begun looking over the sensor logs from the Endeavor and compared those to what was made during the original Enterprise's two voyages to the sector."
"What did you find?"
"Minor discrepancies but the initial sensor logs from the Enterprise and the long range scans may indicate there are no life form readings from the planet at all. It could be a mere recording made in the event should the Talosian People perish."
That got Winter's attention. "Put them side by side on the main viewer." Winter said as he stood.
Thorin did so.
"This is the scan done by the Endeavor eight to ten hours ago. This is the one made by the Enterprise over a century ago."
There were some slight variations. "Any traces of technology at work?"
"Can't tell." Said David as he looked over his console. "We're still too far away once we get within a light year of them we'll have a clearer picture of the system."
"Passive Scans only don't want to alert anyone unnecessarily, Ensign K'Wor keep a constant look out for any vessels joining our convoy that shouldn't be include any thing such as cloaked ships. Send a recommendation to the colonel about engaging a tachyon detection grid within our small group. Inform me when he agrees. I'll be in my ready Room, Mr. Thorin you have the bridge."
