Jewel got ready for the day and headed out, kissing her husband and son goodbye. She had a lot on her mind lately and she was just trying to sort through it all. She decided to head to the Promenade to get some breakfast before starting her shift.
After she arrived she walked in and noticed K'Temoc sitting alone at a table. She walked up and spoke, "mind if I join you Commodore?" She asked with a smile looking at him.
K’Temoc looked up, “Um, General, sure.” He stood up and motioned to the chair across from his. As Jewel sat, K’Temoc sat back down. He’d started the day early himself. He had a few things on his mind.
K’Temoc had grabbed something from the replimat, he didn’t want to wait in line at a restaurant, he really didn’t even know what he wanted. He ended up getting a bowl of grits, some raisin toast, and a few slices of bacon. More than he planned, but he was happy with his selection.
He looked back up at Jewel and noticed the expression on her face, “Is everything okay?”
She sat down and looked at him and smiled, "Everything is fine." Jewel replied even though it wasn't but she didn't want to say anything at the moment. "I just figured since we don't really talk much outside of work, I figured now would be a good time." She replied looking at him taking a bit of her food.
"So, how have you been? Anything new going on?" She asked.
K’Temoc knew something was bothering her, but he didn’t want to press. “I’m doing well.” He paused, took a bite, and then let out what was bothering him. “I’ve been seeing Lieutenant Danielle Cole in the Science Department for a little while now, but it’s becoming very serious, a lot quicker than I thought it might.” He took a sit of his drink. “After Lwazanda’s house warming party, Danielle spent the night with me. We talked most of the night, and somewhere along the way I told her I wanted her to move in with me. I’m not having cold feet now, but I wonder if I took that step too fast and now she’s feeling like she has to move fast too.”
She listened to K'Temoc, "Just sit down and talk to her, let her know you want to take things slow. Give her the option if she still wants to move in with you. Two can live together and take things slow," She said looking at him with a smile. She remembered her romance with her now husband, "Well I am happy you found someone you love, it's about time" She teased a bit looking at him taking a bit of her food.
She then paused for a moment, "can you keep a secret, especially from Mike and Janice?" She asked as she looked up, maybe she needed to get this off her chest. "I'll tell them, when I feel the time is right." She then added.
K’Temoc didn’t like keeping secrets from his brother, but he also knew when it was necessary. “Sure, what’s going on?”
She looked at him and took a deep breath before she continued, "Several years ago, when I was on QronoS I did something really bad that....I ran from. Thought I could get away from it, but my past has come back to haunt me. When I left for a bit, to return to Earth to deal with something. My house leader...found out about it and now..." She paused looking down ashamed and fighting back the tears. "I have dishonored my house...and I am sure I will have to pay for what I did..." She said as she looked away for a moment hating to have K'Temoc see her like this. She didn't want to appear weak. "I haven't even told David yet," she stated.
K’Temoc knew this was serious. He set his fork down, took a quick sip of his drink, then looked up. “What did you do and who’s the Leader of your House now?”
"It's still Jason Pepper but since he's back in Starfleet Vorak is in-charge of things with the house." Jewel replied looking at him, "10 years ago, I killed a Klingon by the name of Kor who was apart of a major house, though I am not a 100% sure of the name of the house as at that time I didn't care. He said something and at that time I snapped and I killed him. I ran and never looked back....tried to forget it....part of me has until recently when the leader of my house was approached by the house member of Kor's looking for me." She stated as she got up and walked over to the private window and looked out.
"I know I shouldn't have ran and faced it like a Klingon but....I don't know. I know I got to face it now." She added still looking out.
K’Temoc was concerned, ‘Kor’ was a famous name in the Empire, not just in the revered Dahar Master’s House. Of course most people thought of Kor son of Rynar when they heard the name ‘Kor’, but with his death in the Dominion War the once famous House also died as he was the last son of the honorable house. But many young Klingons had been named ‘Kor’ over the years.
“If you can find out the name of the house, I’ll see if I can find out more about them. Maybe there’s a way all this can be cleared up, without more blood spilling.” K’Temoc replied.
