Lwazanda looked out of sorts. Her hair fell limp to the sides of her face. Her outfit was wrinkled and, despite the colors, looked dull and drab.
She walked slowly, with her shoulders slumped. Although she hoped not to run into anyone she knew, deep down she was hoping she would. Even just for a minute small talk. Any distraction.
She kept thinking about Kon, and his wid accusations about her.Sure some of them weren't that wild. And sure, some were fact. But nonetheless, the impact was the same. despite her embedded misgivings, she was trapped. At least for now.
Janice had seen her step-children, K’Wor and Becca, off and had taken Christopher to school and she was returning to her’s and Mike’s quarters. With Christopher in school now, she’d given very serious thought to requesting to return to duty within the Starfleet Marines, but she hadn’t made a decision yet. She also hadn’t discussed the idea with her husband either.
Rounding a corner, she saw Lwazanda coming toward her, and the Betazoid woman didn’t look to be in her usual chipper mood.
“Good morning Lwazanda.” Janice said with a smile.
"Janice." The Betazoid exclaimed with dull excitement. "How are you?"
"I'm well, just saw K'Wor and Becca off, Mike is walking them to the air lock, and I dropped Christopher off at school" Janice replied with a smile, then asked, "How are you?" She could see something was bothering Lwazanda, but she didn't want to pry...
Lwazanda couldn't hold back, despite having only actually known Janice for a shot time. "He came home Janice. ahead of schedule, and ...I've runined everything." She was breathing quite heavily, and talking rather loud, "But I'm not even sure i care that it's ruined. Was I even happy? " The Betazoid woman was on the verge of hyperventilating.
‘He?’ Janice thought to herself. She put her hand on Lwazanda’s shoulder. “Everything will be okay, take a deep breath.” She paused a minute before asking, “Who is ‘he’, what’s ruined?”
"Kon." Lwazanda spat, "My husband." she cried more, "He saw me kiss Stannis, I've ruined everything."
“I…I didn’t know you were married.” Janice replied. Sure she’d never asked thought. Janice wasn’t sure what to say. “Are you two separated?” She was concerned for her new friend, but something had to drive them apart.
"Sometimes it feels as though we are." She sighed, allowing the tears to subside. "If I threw in his face the other women I've heard of." An anger rose in her.
"Let's find some place private to talk." Janice said. She thought a moment, maybe she could help her friend find out if the rumors were true or not.
Lwazanda nodded, and followed Janice.
Janice found an unused office and the women stepped inside. There was a sofa and a few chairs, and Janice took a seat in one of the chairs.
"Where do I even begin?" The Betazoid said rhetorically, as she composed herself. "Kon himself was an affair during my engagement to my first husband, and even then, I knew I wasn't the only woman in his life."
Janice didn’t judge, but she shook her head. “They always said, if they will cheat with you, they’ll cheat on you.” Janice crossed her legs and leaned forward in the chair. “Do you know who he might be seeing?” Janice wanted to help her friend, but she also wondered if this should be something Lwazanda talked with Counselor Delair about.
Speaking with her hands, Lwazanda began the list. " His secretary, the florist, the kitchen attendant, one of the maids, and his brother's sister-in-law." She paused, "He has a thing for the help."
Janice let out a breath, so many people. Either this guy couldn’t keep it in his pants or Lwazanda was paranoid...or maybe a little of both. Still, she wanted to support her friend.
“Remember this, hurt people, hurt people. Don't retaliate." She paused, then added, "If you’ll promise to go speak with Counselor Delair, I’ll do some investigating for you, see if we can catch him.” Janice replied.
Lwazanda smiled weakly. "I'm just confused." She said, "And scared."
“I understand.” Janice replied. “Come on, let’s get a bit to eat then I want you to schedule a meeting with the Counselor.”
