Mission: Episode 90 - The Great Relink
Location: Starbase 400

ON:

Mike made his way from Ops to Level Four and Fleet Admiral Sevlek’s Office. With a Changling on the Station, Founder or not, Mike wanted to give his report personally. He also wanted to see that after talking with Counselor Delair and getting some rest, Mike was feeling better and much more like his usual self again.

Mike tapped the door chime and waited for the door to open. While waiting, he thought about ways to not only make sure their guest was entertained, but also how to contain him if he did become hostile. He typed in a quick message on one of the PADDs he was carrying and asked Commander Lokran and General Jackson to meet him in Ops after his chat with Sevlek.

Without looking away from his desktop LCARS terminal, the Vulcan said, "Enter."

Once the door opened, Mike walked in and handed Sevlek the other PADD he was carrying. “I’m sure you monitored a message I just sent through the Gamma Quadrant relay station to the Dominion.” Mike wasn’t sure if Sevlek was able to encrypt the message, even with his Intelligence background, since it was a code used by DS9’s Staff only. “We have an unexpected guest aboard the Station, a Changling that we believe to be one of the ‘one hundred’ that the Dominion sent out into the Galaxy...like Odo and the other one discovered by the DS9 crew years ago call Laas. With General Hurd on LOA, I’ve asked Counselor Delair to meet him and escort him while he’s aboard as his own personal ambassador. I also have a meeting with Lokran and Jackson to discuss Security while he’s here too. He appears to be non-hostile, but is fond of impersonating people.”

After Bremer was finished speaking, Sevlek said, "I was made aware of your message and its contents a few moments ago." He paused as he turned off the desktop computer terminal and while it slid back down into the desk he continued, "If this being is non-hostile then perhaps explaining the unacceptability of impersonating individuals aboard the station will be enough to prevent any future incidents."

Mike smirked, “That was the first thing I did. From what he says he was first discovered by the Krazzle. His name even means something like ‘weird slimy thing’ in their language. He boosted that no one had ever discovered him so fast before, so it seems he makes it a habit of impersonating people. I believe he needs to return to his people.”

"It is most likely that he will return to his people. Odo has made it clear that one of his goals in the leadership of the Dominion will be to attempt the recovery of all of the one-hundred changelings that were sent throughout the galaxy."

“Right, and if this is handled correctly it can lead to even stronger relations between the Federation Alliance and the Dominion.” Mike looked away for a moment before continuing, “The last time Odo was in Alpha and Beta Quadrants, to help us take out the Dominion base on Iconia left over from the War, the Cardassians protested, very loudly. I’m sure they’ll do the same again.”

"The Cardassian Ambassador to the Federation is undoubtedly being informed of the transmission as we speak." Sevlek picked up the PADD near the right corner of the desk closest to him and extended it to Bremer, "These are transfer orders for your Mirror Universe counterpart currently in the brig. A JAG Officer and security escort are en route to Starbase 400 to take him into custody for questioning on Earth."

Mike's eyes narrowed as he took the PADD. "I know Vulcans don't joke, and even if they did this wouldn't be funny." He looked over the PADD. Mike knew a JAG Officer had been aboard the Station and met with his Mirror Universe duplicate while he’d been fighting the Borg. Mike continued to read, ‘...for final questioning prior to being returned to his own universe.’

“So they found a way to return him to the Mirror Universe?” Mike asked aloud. “I don’t like this, red alert is going off in my head right now. Is there any way to stop this transfer and have whatever questioning take please here?”

Sevlek watched the other man, he was bothered greatly by this news, "I made that request. The orders come directly from Fleet Admiral Nechayev. I spoke to her and a JAG representative a hour ago. There is no negotiation. Your mirror universe counterpart is being taken to Earth."

Mike let out a frustrated deep breath. “Understood. I’ll have Commander Lokran make preparations.” Mike didn’t like it, but it wasn’t the time to argue. “I hope they realize how dangerous this man is.”

Sevlek nodded. He'd met his counterpart once. A Vulcan who held the Fleet Admiral rank in the Terran Empire's Starfleet, he was one of the few aliens to reach such a position or rank. The destruction of Starbase 107, a Regula Class Starbase, was solely attributed to Sevlek's mirror counterpart, in addition to several other incidents. "Some of our counterparts are extremely dangerous. Starfleet has had ample time to learn how to handle these individuals." He paused, "For whatever reason, Mirror Universe incursions have increased by 38% percent in the last two years."

Mike nodded. "My 'mirror' has been in our universe for well over a decade now. He's impersonated me twice, while on the run after his first appearance he assisted the Dominion during their attack and conquest of Betazed. He's a skilled warrior and ruthless. If they don't keep an eye on him, he will escape."

Mike then gave a respectful nod and headed back to Ops.
