Mission:
Episode 89 - Futility's Return
Location: USS Essex
Timeline: MD2, 0059 hrs
T'Lar"s Quarters
Deela had to stop by her quarters because she still had small kids that couldn't take care of themselves. She looked in on Brandon then checked on Raivyn who were both asleep. She walked over and kissed Raivyn on the head. As she walked out, Brandon sat up in his bed, "Mommy."
"Shhh." She whispered, "I have to go on an assignment so I won't be here when you get up."
"Again?" Brandon looked sad.
"I am sorry Brandon. I know I have been away but I promise. When I get back, we'll go somewhere fun, okay?" Deela gave him a hug. "Be good for Paul and help him out with your sister. I need to go." She gave him a kiss on the cheek.
It hurt Deela everytime she had to leave them but she had no choice. She walked out of the room. Paul rang the chime and she let him in but not before wiping the tears that had formed. She cleared her throat, "Thanks for doing this for me."
Paul waved her on, "Naw, don't worry about it. Mom and Lee are going to so it's not like I have anything to do. So, don't worry about Raivyn and Brandon. And like I told Mom and Lee, you be careful."
"I will. What am I going to do without you when you go to the Academy?" She looked at him for a moment, "I better get going. The Essex awaits." Deela exited the room.
Paul grabbed a blanket, laid on the couch and went to sleep.
USS Essex
Deela stepped out onto the bridge and looked around, "Hello gorgeous." When she was handed the duty roster, she sat in her chair and looked it over. Clifford, Lokran, and Solomon's names made her smile. It was like the good old days. She looked at the rest of the names and nodded to no one.
Deela sat the PADD down on her lap and thought about the mission. Borg, ugh. She didn't think that she would be ever dealing with them again. It had been 10 years since she had even heard the word 'Borg'.
Deela exhaled as she looked around the bridge again. It was nice to be back in her own chair, on her own bridge.
