633 words; about a 3 minute read

Mission: Mission 87 - Disaster
Location: Lounge
Timeline: MD2-1350-During the 1 hour break from meeting

They were on there one hour break from the meeting so she decided to get something to eat. She was eating for two now so she couldn't just hold off until the talks were over like she normally would. She was reading a padd while eating. She noticed she had gotten a new member of the team who seemed to just arrived on the station.

She read her Starfleet record while she ate, she would have to meet with her soon.

No sooner had she spoken than the sounds of hurried footsteps could be heard. Hoshi, somehow still managing to keep every hair in place (though barely), was quickly making her way to where the Brigadier General was. Her almond shaped eyes scanned the area sharply, as if she knew where she wanted to go but not the face of the person she needed to meet. She moved with careful purpose, as if she knew people were looking at her and knew exactly what she wanted them to think. When she recognized the Brigadier's uniform, she hurried over and saluted at attention.

" Excuse me, sir. Ensign Nakamura, sir, reporting for duty - my apologies for disturbing you." She announced herself. " At least," she faltered, slightly nervous, " I believe I am supposed to be here. I was ordered to report to you and was not certain if it would be better to wait where I was or seek you out."

Jewel looked up, "Ah welcome Ensign please take a seat." Jewel replied as she looked the woman over. "So, what made you become a Diplomatic Officer?" she asked wanting to get to know her new Diplomatic Officer in the short time she had before she had to get back.

" I would have to say it's because I've cultivated a - a talent, if I am a bit bold, for keeping people happy and guiding people towards doing - well. What I think would be good for both of us." Hoshi replied, still nervous. " I enjoy the art of persuasion, so to speak. I like the thought of trying to reach a situation that could benefit both of parties. I often saw my father do this in his years of being an ambassador and I liked seeing the occasions when both parties would emerge satisfied, though I know it does not always work out this way. I thought that it was something I would also like to be able to do, to peacefully deal with other parties and avoid further conflict. I think it takes much more skill to resolve issues like this than through war." She added, beginning to grow calmer despite the fact that she didn't have much time to introduce herself. The diplomat would soon be on her way back to talks with the Krazzle... " And it is better for both parties this way."

She nodded as she spoke, "Well just take this time to settle in and get to know the base." Jewel stated looking at her, "Also you can also check in with my Assistant I am sure he can find you something to do as I am currently busy with the peace talks with the Krazzle." Jewel stated looking at her.

"Also, want to welcome you aboard and to my team." Jewel added looking at her.

" Of course -- and oh, thank you sir." She dipped her head gracefully, looking gratified. " I suppose I ought to leave you to the Krazzle then. Might I..." she halted, slightly uncertain still, before continuing. " Sir, might I ask - how well are the talks going?"

"As well as expected," Jewel stated as she stood up. "I'll let you get settled in, we will talk more." Jewel stated as they then both parted ways and Jewel made her way back to the meeting.
