Location: Starbase 400, R&D Lab
Timeline: MD 1, 1130 hours, Following 'Saying Goodbye...'

R&D Research Lab 2, Starbase 400

After seeing his Niece and Nephew off and on their way to Earth to attend Starfleet Academy, K’Temoc made his way to the R&D area to meet with Commander Stark who’d requested to meet with him.

Walking in, K’Temoc looked around and saw Stark at one of the consoles working, “Mister Stark.”

“Cap’n.” The R&D Commander replied as he looked up, “I’ve, well we’ve managed to isolate a corrupted algorithm in the Yorktown’s primary computer core. We’ve also updated her programming using information Admiral Sevlek provided from the Gladiator. We should have the Yorktown space worthy again in about a week.”

K’Temoc flashed a smile, “Thank you.”

“We’re working to update the Pegasus, Durga, Lexington, Vanguard, Essex, and Kearsarge in the same manner now too. Then we’ll move forward with the full overhauls of the other Starbase vessels.” Stark added.

K’Temoc walked closer and looked at the monitor aboard Stark’s head, “That doesn’t look like anything aboard the Pegasus, Essex, or any other ship docked at Starbase 400...it looks like an upgraded ship borne phaser array element.”

“That’s because that’s exactly what it is, very astute of you Einstein...and why are you looking over my shoulder anyway?” Stark looked back at K’Temoc with a puzzled expression followed by a sly smile. “These are the preliminary designs for the Type-14 phaser array. It’s in the early development stages, years from testing. It’s being built for the planned Odyssey class, due to being construction before the decade is out.”

“I’ve heard about the Odyssey, she’s supposed to be a leap forward, with the second ship of the class already designated NCC-1701-F, Enterprise. All the bells and whistles of the Gladiator, with increased firepower, new generation positronic core, improved slipstream drive, and the list goes on.” K’Temoc replied.

“Exactly Cap’n. Starbase 400 is assigned the task of weapons design and development while the vessel herself will be built at Utopia Planitia.” Stark added.

K’Temoc looked over the specs for a few more seconds before taking a step back, “Well if you need any help...”

Stark cut him off, “I think I, we can handle this.” He smirked again before turning back to his work.

K’Temoc cut his eyes at Commander Stark again, then headed back toward Ops.
