Mission:
Mission 87 - Disaster
Location: USS Ark Royal
Timeline: MD 1, 1100 hours
As soon as the briefing was over, Jack made his way from Ops down to his quarters to pickup some fresh uniforms, clothes and a few belongings before heading over to the Ark Royal. He was very happy the Admiral had chosen him not only to hold the Ops position on board the older Ambassador Class vessel, but also that he would be XO to Commander Coleman as well. Having worked with Coleman recently on the recovery mission, he was looking forwards to working closely with him again.
As he packed his things, he thought back to his time as XO on the Wildcat, a period that seems aeons ago now. Back then he was a Commander and had been Ops Chief for several years. It was a period of time he enjoyed serving under Admiral Wolfe on the Wildcat...but it also reminded him of the troubles he had with Talia as well and the recent message from her troubled him still.
He packed the PADD with the message on it just in case. The fact that she'd gotten in touch again was bad to begin with and he needed to be prepared. If there was one thing he had learnt in all of his career so far, it was to be ready for anything, be it mission related or in your personal life, always be prepared, always be ready. He had this thought in mind as he locked up his quarters and left for the Docking area to board the Ark Royal.
Once he arrived on board, Jack located the quarters assigned to him and dropped his things off, making sure he secured the PADD away safely. Before doing that he checked it one last time and found a new message waiting. He frowned as he tried to figure iut how a secure transmission from Talia had been recieved without any alert or protocols being set off.
"I trust you received my PADD. Scratch that beloved... I know you have the PADD and you have read its contents. Thats why you tried to trace where I am," Jack read out loud, as he carried on... "I will be with you soon and then we will talk...or at least try to talk...we always seem to end up fighting but thats not my aim this time. Love, Talia." He finished.
He was still confused by this as he secured the PADD away. Something wasn't right with any of this, but it would have to wait. Jack made his way to the Bridge and when he arrived there, he took a moment to enjoy the scenery. Ambassador Class Starships were his favourite and he was looking forward to being here on the Ark Royal. He moved over to the Ops Position and took a seat, logging on to see what was needed to make sure she would be ready. From the ships logs and maitenance records, she was up to specs and ready to launch, once the crew were on board.
Jack pressed the comm panel. "Lieutenant Solomon to Ensign McCauley," he said waiting for an answer. In the meantime, he ran a level one diagnostic of the lateral sensor array.
"Ensign McCauley here, sir," he answered.
"Ensign, I want you, Rollins and Giles to start bringing on board backup power generators for the transporter rooms and any reserve transporter buffers as well. Once on board, begin installing them in the various transporter rooms on board," Jack instructed.
"Understood, sir," McCauley replied.
With that task underway, Jack continued with the diagnostic as well as setting up assigning Ops crew members to various tasks, including maintenace shifts focusing on the Sensor Arrays, regular transporter maintenance and reassigning cargo so that Cargo Bays 2 and 3 were available if an evacuation was necessary. He also began drawing up shift patterns for all of the departments whilst on mission. It didnt hurt to be prepared for when Commander Coleman came on board.
"Always be prepared..." He murmured as he got on with his work.
