Mission:
Mission 87 - Disaster
Location: USS Mercy
Doctor Tressa Brislan looked out the window of the conference room; she could see the Venator nearby. She looked up as the medical staff began to arrive for their first meeting onboard.
Sarah walked into the room and chose a chair. She smiled at Dr. Brislan, "good morning," she said brightly. Sarah always had a sunny disposition. She had fussed over what to bring to the meeting because she had never been to one like this before. The only thing she could say was she probably was prepared, maybe over-prepared. She sat smiling waiting for the others to arrive. She greeted them with a smile and nod as they did.
Tressa smiled back as Sarah seated herself. A few moments later everyone had arrived and she stood.
"My colleagues, good day to you all. We are en route to Hunster II which has recently been colonized. As you can see there are two colonies, with approximately 3500 people living on the planet. Three days ago there was a planet-wide disaster there and both colonies are in need of emergency care. At this point we are going to treat it as a major disaster; that means we are going in with first responders, food, water, shelter, and counseling. As we get into scanning distance we will determine where to set up our bases of operation for triage."
She paused for a moment, then her eyes went to Doctor Allan. "There are livestock on the planet as well, so we will need to set up veterinary triage. It is my understanding that they brought a number of different genetic lines for their grazing animals and have not been there long enough to breed them through, so we may also need to replace some genetic strains for them." The veterinarian nodded, making a notation.
"Hunster II is near the Krazzle border, but the Federation is about to host their hegemon at Starbase 400 so hopefully in the interest of diplomacy and making friends we won't have any problems with them. However, as always, keep your eyes open... doctors are often targets for terrorists. Your assignments are on the padds in front of you, are there any questions?"
The medical staff began to buzz with questions as the Mercy moved towards her destiny.
