After three years aboard the USS Halifax it is time to move on, I have arrived on my new home, Starbase 400. I have never been aboard a station to work, only for shore leave. I have to admit I am a bit nervous about this change, there are some here I will miss but for the most part leaving has not been to traumatic as it never felt like home.
My biggest worry is getting lost and disorientated aboard such a big station, but no doubt it is something I will get used to in time. Also being around so many of the brass is going to be strange, I will have to be on my best behavior until I know who is who and what they are like.
There is also a large marine contingent there which I plan to keep well away from, so far I have not had good experiences with marines due to their dislike for anyone that is not a marine or related to a marine. With her looking so young too it has always caused her problems with them treating her like a kid, and not taking her seriously when trying to do her job.
I know not all marines are fools but so far I have only met the fools, maybe there will be someone here that will prove to be the exception to that rule. I have not yet reported in for duty due to the hour of my arrival, it would not go down well if I were to go and wake up the chief to say 'Hi, I have arrived.'
Instead I will report to the Chief in the morning and find out what is expected of me then, as well as to get my shift rotas.
