“Personal Log”

“It’s 0015 hours, and for now it appears the Yorktown is…okay. I’ve still found no mention of any similar with this type of computer code and system in Starfleet records. Nothing in testing, nothing in the Gladiator’s trial runs of service history, and nothing with any other upgraded ship at Starbase 400.”

“I did found a few cases where a ship’s computer did show signs of being self-aware in Starfleet history, but each time there was some kind of outside influence that triggered it….but none of those causes are present here.”

“In the morning, we will push forward with the ship’s tests as planned, and while on the way back to the Station we will try to learn more about what happened. Truth be told, I’m not sure what to think though. The Yorktown was built as a ship, a tool. It’s easy to compare what’s happened here to Commander Data, but whereas B4, Lore, and Data were built AS androids, to be self-aware, to act and appear to be Human, the Yorktown was not. Still…that doesn’t negate the possibility that the Positronic core as…evolved.”

“End log”
