Being a Starfleet Marine is a lot more than just shouting orders and killing things. It is more than just wearing a different uniform. It is more than just a job. And being a SF Marine who commands men and women, it become a whole other animal entirely.

Being a SF Marine is about obeying orders, trying to execute them in such a way as to obtain the objective at hand without loosing any of my men, but knowing t, and accepting, that at any moment People under my command can die. I can not count the number of funeral's i have been to, nor the amount of greiving family member i have tried to comfort at the loss of a loved one.

Do i enjoy killing? Honestly i do not. Although i accepted long ago that in this line of work, it is killed or be killed. To protect my men, accomplish my misson, and to protect the Federation, i can, and will kill, although everytime i do, seeing the life drain out of their eyes sends a shiver down my spine. I think, that if a person get's so used to killing that it does not bother them, they need to find a new line of work and have a psych eval done.

And commanding men and women in battle, knowing i am resposable for them, is perhaps i think the hardest duty i have. Knowing them, getting to know their family's, Making sure they make it home at the end of a mission, that all my duty. And then, God forbid it, one of them gets killed, having to notify the family...... It hard, and it hurts, but being a Marine is the only thing i ever envision myself being. I just wish more people knew what it was REALLY like....
