“Personal Log, Ensign Saith i-Ki Baratan, stardate 66586.3. The Pegasus has just returned from its . . . mission. Following the attack on the Challenger, a cowardly attack that resulted in the death of Admiral Bremer’s twins we began pursuit. I have no issues with this, but I have . . . concerns about the manner in which the mission was embarked and completed. “
She paused and sighed, “Personally, although I understand why he would want to do so, I disagree with Admiral Bremer leading the mission. It seemed clear to me that his personal vendetta outweighed any other concern. As no other officers questioned his actions and motives I felt I could be at risk to do so.”
Another pause, this time a little longer, “Once we reached Remu III, the away team assembled by the Admiral, and the orders given to the team appeared to be revenge oriented not intelligence gathering nor rescue oriented. I suggested a change in tactic and was aggressively rebuked by the Admiral in front of the crew. I am unsure if it was my race, my suggestion, or the implication that he objected to. Once K’wor was rescued, and Westmorland was dead, the Admiral ordered a fleeing ship to be destroyed, which Captain Harrison did without question, but I question it. My understanding of Starfleet regulations precludes wholesale slaughter of non-aggressive entities.”
“I discussed my own actions, and my anger towards both Admiral Bremer and the situation with Captain Pike. He ordered me to counseling, which is something I guess I will never escape. I have never told anyone else on this side of the zone about my childhood, but I came to realize while talking with Captain Pike that he is correct and my anger issues probably stem from those years. He ordered me to attend counseling regularly and I agree that it something I should give an honest try. In the past I have resisted my counselors and my counseling sessions. I plan to try harder this time.”
She paused not knowing what else to say. “Computer end personal log.”
