Getting closer...

“Admiral’s Log, Stardate 66336.7. The Pegasus is leading a Task Force of vessels from Starbase 400 along with the USS Defiant, to investigate the possibility of a Dominion outpost on Iconia left over from the Dominion war years ago.”

“I have to admit, part of me hopes there are Jem Hadar there. I’ve been craving action for a while now and recent events aboard Starbase 400 related to Clark and Westmoreland have made my pulse race and blood boil. I feel like sometimes sitting behind a desk has dulled my instincts and skill. Is it wrong for me to feel this way?”

“Of course, I don’t want to see any one of my crew injured or killed. It would be best for this to be resolved diplomatically…for everyone involved. But I can’t escape the burning of my Klingon blood and the craving of battle.”

“If this does end in a fight, once we have control of space, I plan to beam done along with the Marines, Security forces, and Odo’s Jem Hardar Commandos. Computer, end log.”

Mike stood up from his desk in his Ready Room aboard the Pegasus and straightened his uniform. He took a sip of the raktijno he’d gotten out of the replicator before starting his log. He turned and looked out the window behind him. He could see the Avenger and Defiant close to the Pegasus as well as the Durga, Vanguard, and Venator further away. Suddenly, the Durga, Vanguard, and Venator blurred and feel back behind the Pegasus.

“Bridge to Admiral Bremer. Sir, we’ve reached the drop off point near DS6. Ark Royal, Laffey, Vanguard, Venator, Kearsarge, and Durga have dropped out of warp and are holding position. We’re are proceeding toward the Iconian System.” The duty Officer of Beta Shift reported over the comm.

Mike tapped his comm-badge, “Acknowledged Lieutenant, I’m on my way. Have Alpha Shift reassume their positions.”

They were five hours from the Iconian System. Mike had planned to have Alpha Shift run two full battle simulations before they arrived, he wanted them to be sharp…just in case.
