Thinly veiled confusions

184 words; about a 1 minute read
“Computer record.” Saith sat down on her cot and swung her legs up on the bed as the computer followed her order. “Personal log, Ensign Saith i-Ki Baratan, on board the Steadfast, heading . . . home,” the word sounded odd to her, “. . . to Starbase 400. Our mission was successful, but I feel my time with Starfleet may be coming to an end. “She paused.
A couple of seconds went by before she started again, “I am unsure about how Admiral Bremer deals with situations, like mine. I am unsure what I even want to happen. I don't know who I am anymore. There is no home to go home to. . . I do not belong in Starfleet; there is no longer a Star Empire. Maybe I too am a pirate of sorts. . .” she paused again thinking about that. Coming out of her thoughts and realizing several minutes had passed by she told the computer, “Computer end personal log, stop recording.” She sat and folder her hands across her stomach. They would be back at the base soon, and she was sure her fate would be fast in coming.
