Once there was a small child and she loved it when the suns shone bright. The world seemed always happy and it lifted her spirits. She would run and play and love those sunny days and the way her mood felt in the bright sunshine.

She did not like it when the rain came, for the clouds would be grey and the mist and water made things cold. She did not like getting wet and having to stay indoors to stay dry and she always seemed she felt sad.

One day, she sat by a waterfall enjoying the sun and all seemed beautiful with the world, but soon clouds began to roll in and she knew it was going to rain.

"Why can it not be sunny all the time!" She yelled at the clouds forming above.

"Because little one, sometimes there is sun in our lives and sometimes there is rain." Came a sweet beautiful voice.

The little girl turned to behold a woman, tall and fair that seemed to shine with a glow of her own.

The beautiful woman continued. "You see they are the ingredients."

"Ingredients?" The little girl queried.

"Indeed, in order to make rainbows, you need both sun and rain."

"See," the woman said and pointed to the sky where already a great arch of a rainbow spread.

The little girl looked and smiled. She loved the rainbows, the bright colours always made her feel special, connected to the world, grounded.

"Without one of those ingredients you would not have the other." The woman said.

The little girl turned to thank the woman but she had vanished.

Later when she had grown, no matter if something good or something bad happened, she would always say, "In order to make rainbows you need both sun and rain."
