"Ah better, I can see that the computer people got the pronunciation down."
[Is that a request?]
"No, no, alright just record."

I guess the death of my friend has stirred much up. I started dreaming, of long ago and now very far away. When I first got my wings. Anyway, it goes like this:
"Oh! Alekela!" Mysima said, and shoved slightly at Alekela's shoulder. "I can not believe you would spend your new wings flying rather than coming to an Irsema house! I mean, I can think it would certainly be a much more pleasurable exercise than practicing a matron flight." Mysima both laughed and blushed slightly at her comment.
"I have no doubt, Mysima illm Orrisen, but a first chance to soar in the sky? I can hardly wait!" I replied, with excitement tinging my voice as I slightly spread those four gossamer wings that sprouted from my shoulders, the light of the of the Twins catching them and cascading in iridescent waves along them.
"You always had your head more in the clouds and stars than in practical matters. I never thought Meaho'ōla was a good match for you! A House that is all but not needed anymore!"
I shook my head and hung it down. I then looked into her friend's green eyes and said, Whispers.
"Whispers? What kind of whispers?" Mysima asked.
I remember blushing and hanging my head, "A'ksu, I hear it."
"I think that is why I was assigned to House Meaho'ōla."
Mysima shook her head. " We let way too much from the past colour our present. The Mother's all but use it as a whip. Anyway, I doubt it, just too adventurous they must wonder at times about you," Mysima said with a shake of her head and a mock serious tone, the light catching bright red metallic streaks in the otherwise blonde girl's curly hair. "I sometimes think you would have been better off in the Orrisen."
I made a tilt of the head in agreement. Orrisen, the Artist's Guild, certainly would probably have fit me, but that had not been their choice. One never had a choice, but the Guilds did try to fathom a child's interest enough to make a proper choice.
Still, there was no way I was interested in healing, a profession that we almost did not need anymore. Oh there was the occasional illness or injury that required a little more attention, but they were not that common anymore. Maybe it was just to help keep the house name alive.
"Perhaps!" I remember looking up, noting that the High Summer sky with the Twins, as the binary stars that gave life to this world were called, standing side by side, they had just slipped past the zenith. The day was still warming and would be much warmer soon, but the evening would bring an ocean breeze and cool the evening. It would be just perfect to fly in the not too warm and not too cold air. "Well, I am off, Mysima! I am going to get some rest and some cool blood nectar before tonight."
"You are really going to do it, aren't you!" Mysima shook her head again, and then in a genuine serious tone," Good flight to you then. Be careful. Storms blow up all the time, and you have not had much practice with these." She ran one finger down the wings. It was an intimate gesture.
"I will, I replied with confidence, and added, Try not to make too much of a scene at the Iresima house!"
Myisma just laughed. "Oh, then I will have failed!"
We giggled for a moment, and then, giving a quick hug, parted to go their separate ways.
"How much my life changed that day. What was to come set me on a path that lead me to here. That is a story for another time though."
"E hoʻopōmaikaʻi iā ʻoe Myisma."*
