Captain's Log Stardate 65066.4 The Task Group is preparing to depart for Talos IV to begin the saddened duty ever to befall a Starfleet Officer, yet it is also a humble one. Escorting a hero home has never been more profound except for this one here. The Talosians report that they are ready to return the remains or the body of legendary Starfleet Officer Commodore Christopher Pike, a former Captain of the original Enterprise. Without much more than the simple request of the Talosians Starfleet at the behest of the Federation President has temporarily lifted Starfleet's General Order Seven which prohibited contact with the Talosians at the cost of the death penalty. Concerned with the potential problems which may arise out of Starfleet's last encounter with the Talosians Starfleet instructed Admiral Bremer to send a ship or ships to Talos IV to escort the body home. Laffey is selected to conduct security of the operation and to conduct a Combat Patrol of the System to ensure no one else takes advantage of the temporary suspension of General Order Seven prior to the honored duty of escorting the remains to Earth for proper burial.
