New and Strange Place

Lai’lira walked into her quarters. She closed the door on the Nausiccan bodyguard Hades and Braxton had left with her. She hated being followed around but they said that until they were sure that things were safe the guard stayed if they couldn’t be with her.
She sat down on her sofa and closed her eyes. She felt…drained.
“Computer begin personal log.” She said as she got up walked to the replicator and ordered a nice hot Romulan tea.
“I’ve been here a while now and things are…interesting. I got a job working reception for Dr. Sage and she tells me that when she gets back she’ll train me in crystal therapy and sound therapy. I’m really looking forward to that. I am a bit worried about her though. She was pretty beaten up a few days ago and now she’s off on an adventure with some purple lady that I’ve met briefly but don’t trust. Something about her seems….off.”
She put her tea on the table before she continued, “Anyway she should be returning soon and boy will she have a full slate of therapy sessions. The advertising she did paid off and we haven’t even had the grand opening event….speaking of which, she put me in charge of that. I had to organize it all and I’m doing a good job if I do say so myself. Now she was specific she wanted catering from the Sparrow which I booked and from Tom’s place.”
Lai’lira smiled. “Tom,” she laughed. “He is Splendora’s crush. I’m not sure if he likes her but she’s just about gone gaga over him. I think I’ll go personally to ask for his catering help and to maybe sense out if he likes her. We’ve only worked for a few days but I’d say that I’m quite fond of her.”
Lai’lira sipped her tea, “Braxton and Hades are gone on some mission. Goodness knows when they will be back. Hades seems like such a kind soul. I really like him although he is very anxious.” She grinned. “You know I sensed his feelings towards the head doctor. He’s afraid of his own feelings but he is a romantic at heart an eventually I’m sure things will work out. I just love, love stories.
She put her tea back on the table. “Now Braxton.” She sighed a bit frustrated by thoughts of Braxton, “Mikhail Gregori Braxton. What is there to say about him? He’s tall, and those Black eyes are so intense. He’s suffered a lot in the past. I can tell. There is a sadness in him. He also keeps people out as if he is afraid that he is not good enough for them. It is a shame. He has such a loving soul. What really gets me about him is that when someone talks to him, or pays him attention, he feels so grateful for that smile or kind word yet he…I don’t know he’s afraid. It’s like he’s afraid of disappointing the world. He doesn’t like to talk much. I noticed he grunts or makes sound that he expects others to interpret. I think it’s a defence mechanism.”
She drank the rest of her tea and put the cup back in the reclamation unit, “So all in all, I am adapting. Hades gave me the memory chip S’Ten had on him. I still haven’t looked at it. To be honest I’ve been a bit afraid to.”
She sat back down on the sofa. “I don’t know what S’Ten had on the memory disk but…I’m a bit afraid to find out. I would rather have someone with me when I open it. I’d like to speak with T’Lar about it but am worried about bothering her.”
She smiled. “Ah T’Lar, she’s amazing. She reminds me of my aunt so much. She was kind and loving and strong just like T’Lar. I enjoyed spending time with her and her kitty…which is actually a tiger. I’m looking forward to taking her shopping to thank her for her hospitality. She took me in and really took care of me when I first came. I wanted her help as well with a gift for Admiral Mikey who granted me Asylum. He’s a nice man too.”
Lai’lira looked around. “Well it’s getting late. I have lots on my plate tomorrow so I guess I should go to bed. Computer end log.”
She heard the chirps of confirmation. Smiling she got up, brushed her teeth, showered, changed into her nightgown, and then snuggled into bed feeling rather excited to get the sleeping part over with so that she could start a new day on this wonderful station.
