Rachael Yamaguchi smiled as she regarded her opponent, she held her left arm up before her, thumb and forefingers outstretched and the other three fingers were curled to some degree, she was bent over in a classic defensive pose as her right hand was behind her, facing up with her bostaff in it as she
turned her left hand and beckoned to her opponent, one Captain Leon Pike to
come and attack her.

She was wearing jogging pants and a tank top, he was garbed much the same way as was the third person who was here for this little training routine, one
Lt Commander Torilla Yamaguchi who watched carefully the two of them, she knew her daughter still had some lingering issues due to the recent events between her and Captain Pike.

What happened was an accident but it has intertwined their fates as Pike had offered to train Rachael in her mental disciplines, the child had accepted only with the approval of her mother.

Rachael ducked his first and then she parried his second strikes but she went for deflection and grace, both hallmarks of the kendo form of fighting where as her mother went for grace and power. other aspects of the same style except Pike went for raw strength and form.

"So... when is the wedding again... and who's on the guest list?" Rachael inquired.

"We plan on having the wedding very soon. My family, Alex's family along with probably most of Star Base 400."

"One thing though... Paul is a lot more tender then he looks.... If you hurt him, you will answer to me." she growled as she stopped paring his blows and she went for him, her rage and anger fueling her strikes.

"I know Paul is a bit tender and could use some toughen up. I have no plans on hurting him." Lee blocked her strikes, he could tell she was anger about something.

"Rachael." Torilla's voice echoed like a cannon. "Enough.". Torilla knew she need not worry for she had not even come close to penetrating the Captain's defensive wall but she could not let this threat go unanswered. "Explain yourself young lady. Was that because of what happened before.?"

Lee stood there looking at both Torilla and Rachael.

"No mom, this one is new... I worry for my boyfriend."

"Boyfriend." Torila repeated, clearly surprised but then she should have seen this coming. "Rachael... you need to tell me these things, going around and threatening people is most unwise...."

"I apologize Captain Pike." Rachael looked at Pike and not her mother but one could see the cold iron in her eyes as Torilla knew that Rachael meant every word that she had said.

"Your apology is accepted."

"Fair enough, I would accept no promises anyway..." Rachael responded.

Lee stood there and studying Rachael for a moment:"I sense you have much rage and anger in you. You need to work on letting it go before it does you and others harm."

Rachael looked at the massive male officer she was facing, he had told her this a few times but she was finding it hard to let go of anything. "How does one simply let go of anything?" she inquired as she watched his form carefully.

"You simply let it stop bothering you, you let things go" Lee twirled his bo staff.

Rachael raised an eyebrow as she considered the thought. "Very well.."

He gave her a smirk:"Now let's have some fun."

Rachael then smiled as she waved him on as she prepared to counter whatever he could throw at her.

He watched her telegraph the move, with a bit of surprising speed for him he popped her in the shoulder with the staff then before she could counter he swept her legs out from under her.

Rachael landed on her back with a woof of air as it left her lungs, she looked up at the ceiling as she sighed. "Nice.." she slowly climbed back to her feet. "How did you do that?" clearly she could accept losing well, which was unusual for someone her age.

Lee held out his hand to help her up.

Rachael grasped his hand, thinking he was going to help her up.

Once he had a hold of her hand he stuck out the staff and tripped her up sending her sprawling to the mat.

Rachael landed with a soft grunt as she went crashing to the deck.

He stood there holding the staff in his hand:"Never ask your opponent how they do a move and never seek an outstretched hand from them."

"What exactly are you trying to teach me here Captain?" Rachael inquired as she climbed to her feet then she called her staff to her hand as Torilla answered instead. "Not everyone is as trusting as the Captain, Rachael as
many others will seek only your destruction, they are cruel, they lie, cheat and steal..."

Rachael nodded her head. "Mmmm... Makes sense."

Lee still stood there looking at them:"Don't be as trusting as you have been as you get older. Yes trust your family and close friends but be careful around people you just met or ones you hardly know."

Rachael stood before the mountain of a man before her as she was defeated, tradition said that they were to bow to each other to end the fight but she was leery of him kicking her in the head, it was showing too. "this bout is over, please don't kick me..." she commented.

He chuckled:"Don't worry I won't" He then bowed also.

Rachael kept a leery eye on him as she bowed to him, clearly he had taught her one lesson which she had taken instantly to heart.

He leaned down towards her and whispered:"Care to chat with me about anything?"

Rachael raised an eyebrow as she looked at him. "We have a few things to talk about.... "

Lee nodded then tapped his staff on the matt:"Then sit and let's discuss."

Rachael sat down before him as she observed him carefully, he was far more massive then she was and he felt like a bonfire to her as he had his abilities well honed and was highly trained where as she had talent but little training in her various abilities. "Its about Paul.... since threats clearly don't work.... I worry about him.... he's more fragile then he looks..." she paused. "I want to give him some self-confidence but I'm not sure how..."

Lee sat there across from her his staff resting on his lap:"Ah...Paul is a good kid. You are there for him and you talk with him right?"

Rachael nodded. "I do. yes." she responded. "I spend more time with him then anyone else."

"There is nothing more you can do to give him more self confidence then be there for him and give him praise."

Rachael looked at him. "His father did so much damage to him..."

Lee nodded:"Yes his father has done a lot of damage and he knows that. All you can really do is be there for him Rachael."

Rachael nodded. "I know... " she sighed softly. "Still.. the other subject has not come up... yet." she paused. "we're both old enough."

Torilla raised an eyebrow as she had been expecting this subject to come up,
the subject was sex and it had been the same for Gabriel and Elizabeth and now it would be the same for Rachael as she spoke up. "Rachael... don't rush into this.... I know how you feel about Paul.... I see it whenever you two are in the same place." she commented as she regarded her youngest. "but consider it carefully for once you do it the first time... there can only be one time..." she explained. "I waited until I had left home and then met your father... it was an accident for me and him.... don't make my mistakes and do not rush into this..."

Lee raised an eyebrow as he sat there:"Rachael you should listen to your mother on this one. When it comes to stuff like this you shouldn't rush into anything or you could harm you and Paul's relationship."

Rachael raised an eyebrow. "I thought about doing it anyway, regardless..." she had no idea why she was saying this as she simply shrugged. "Do you plan on adopting him..." she inquired, it was a fair question.

"I have already talked to Alex and Paul and if and when he is ready I will adopt him:"

Rachael raised an eyebrow. "Paul Pike.... " she commented. "Maybe if I marry him, he'll take my last name.... Paul Yamaguchi.."

Lee gave a slight chuckle:"Take things slow and one step at a time, you don't want to freak Paul out."

Rachael smiled. "Well when the time comes... I want to do it right and make it memorable." she was clearly staking her territory.

He raised an eyebrow and just shook his head:"So what else would you like to talk about?"

"Psionic Training... I want to know what you know..." Rachael responded bluntly.

Lee looked at Rachael then to her mother then back to Rachael:"What I know will take you many years to master."

Rachael raised an eyebrow. "I have time..."

He then stood up:"This lesson for the day is now over" Lee bowed to Rachael then to her mother before leaving.

Rachael returned his bow as she watched him walk into the locker room as she turned to pick up her bag as she followed her mother into the female locker room.
